It is with great sadness and heartbreak, we regretfully announce our beloved Peter Kolodiazny passed away on January 18th, 2023.
Peter was born to Mary and Kornelius Kolodiazny in Smoky Lake, Alberta on April 13th, 1934.
Dad dedicated his life to his career in Mental Health. He started working at Riverview Hospital as a Student nurse in March 1956 and graduated in 1958. He continued to work at Riverview Hospital as an Assistant Head Nurse and a Head Nurse up until 1993. Peter then took care of his wife Georgina for 5 years before her passing in October 1998. Peter went back to work as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at several boarding homes in the lower mainland. Including Melissa Park Lodge, Pinetree Lodge, Rainbow Lodge and Barberry Lodge. Peter worked until August 2022 where he was forced to retire at the age of 88 due to illness.
Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Peter gained a life long friend. He had the biggest smile on his face all the time and would be able to strike a conversation with anyone. He truly loved his career and helping those around him.
Dad was predeceased by our Mom, Georgina and his son, Kerry. He is survived by his 2 sons - Keith, Kelly (Rebecca); 3 grandchildren - Kameron (Cecilia), Kristina (Wade), Kalvin; and 4 great grandchildren - Kaydence, Kinsley, Kaliegh and Kolt.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Port Coquitlam Legion on February 18th, 2023 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dad’s honor to the BC Mental Health Foundation.
