Transitions can be quiet and slow, or loud and sudden — but they always ask something of us.

They ask us to loosen our grip on the familiar.
To sit with uncertainty.
To trust what’s still unfolding.

And that’s hard — even when the change is welcome.

So if you’re feeling tired, overwhelmed, or unsure right now… it doesn’t mean you’re behind. It means you’re human.

How can you show yourself compassion today?💛

We’re all human. We make mistakes, face setbacks, and sometimes let ourselves down. But here's the truth: holding onto guilt or regret only weighs us down.

In case you need a nudge:

𝑵𝙤𝒘 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲.

A lot of clients take breaks over the summer, so our Registered Clinical Counsellors often have more availability. And, even if you’re feeling pretty good right now (because sunshine, slower pace, etc.), it is actually an ideal time to start—when you’re not in crisis and can really build a foundation.

So many people wait until they are overwhelmed to reach out for support - for themselves or their loved ones. Imagine if you didn’t have to hit that point?

Just something to think about as we head into August. 🤍

We have therapists on our team for most concerns you can imagine - email connect@kaydahealth.ca if you need help figuring out who to book a free consult with or visit our website to learn more (link in profile).

😴 Ever wake up already anxious? 😬

That could be due to your *Cortisol Awakening Response* - a natural spike in cortisol that happens in the first 30-60 minutes of being awake. It’s normal, but can feel VERY intense - especially for people who are in high performing/ high achieving roles and thereby maybe managing a few too many things in life.

Our Registered Clinical Counsellor, Sarah Susswein, explains this fascinating phenomenon, as well as shares one of her favourite ways to address it and manage anxiety right from the start of the day - using a cold shower to face discomfort and find control or power.

💬 Sarah says, “When I wake up every day with a cold shower, nobody, NOBODY, can make me as uncomfortable as I do! And that just makes every day life and stress just small potatoes.”

Wow. This is nervous system support with agency!

➡️ Ever tried a cold reset? What’s your go-to morning anchor when you wake up wired?

Sarah works with neurodivergence, sleep issues, anxiety, trauma, and stress as well as many other issues, and is based out of Port Moody. Book a free consult using the link in our bio.

How are you protecting your peace today?

Sunshine feels good—but so does mental space. This summer, let’s balance beach days with screen-free breaks 🌿, hydrate our minds and bodies, and keep our self‑care as essential as sunscreen.

📚Book Recommendation: What’s a quick and helpful read if you are feeling like you can’t keep up with the daily grind and your internal critic is judging you for it on repeat?

Try: How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis (who also happens to be a therapist).

Key takeaway: Doing or not doing chores doesn’t define you as a person - you are not morally characterized as good or bad by doing or not doing. So don’t do it out of shame. Instead, consider: “What could I do that offers the most kindness to future me - what most aligns with my overall needs for comfort, convenience, and pleasure?” If it’s taking a break, take it - you deserve it; just don’t take it while berating yourself. If it’s doing a task, then go ahead and do it, KNOWING it’s aligned with what matters most to you.

What are you reading right now and why would you recommend it?
