Like the rest of the community, we too, are greatly devastated by last week’s events. There are no words that can describe the atrocity of what has taken place here at Elmwood Cemetery and across the region over the past several weeks.

While this will be an on-going topic of discussion, we wanted to provide everyone with an update. We know many of you have been inquiring and wondering what will be done regarding cleaning up all monuments affected.

Today (7 November 2021) we signed an agreement with Campbell Monument Company Ltd. to clean all monuments that have been affected. They were at Elmwood Cemetery today taking note of all damage and will begin cleaning as early as tomorrow (8 November 2021).

Campbell Monument Company Ltd. will be taking before and after photos and will be using a trusted process to clean the graffiti.

There will be no charge; however, there is a fundraising initiative to help cover the costs that will be incurred by Campbell Monument Company Ltd. for cleaning all affected monuments in the area. If you would like to contribute, the link to this fundraiser can be found at the bottom of this post.

We will begin to reach out to the many emails and phone calls as time allows us. If you would like us to check on a loved one’s monument for you, please contact us directly and we would be happy to assist.

Thank you to everyone for your patience as we have been working to address this situation and thank you to Campbell Monument Company Ltd. for stepping up and helping our community when it was in need.
