Happy anniversary to us!! 🎉🎈🎂

March 2026 is the TEN year anniversary of Wellness Family Practice. Can you believe it??

When Dr Colbourne and I started the clinic in 2016, we had the vision of a group practice where patients felt comfortable and well cared for, with family doctors who covered for each other, collaborated, and mentored the next generation of physicians. We were so fortunate to find not only each other, but Jennifer Veitch of Veitch Physiotherapy who had the same vision of collaborative holistic care in a beautiful modern space.

Over the years, we built the practice from scratch, piloted the province’s new electronic medical record, moved into a beautiful new building, expanded our team to FIVE amazing family docs (adding Drs Osborne, Lethbridge, Mercier and Jackman), hired the absolute best staff (Linda, Melina, Nancy our current rockstar crew), were supported by fantastic locums (especially Dr Peacock in recent years) and along the way collected 4000 patients. We became one of the largest, most stable family practices on the West Coast.

We also became one of the largest community teaching sites in the province - mentoring over 200 medical students and family medicine residents - many who have gone on to become our friends and colleagues.

With so many challenges in our healthcare system, I think it’s important to celebrate a ‘good news’ story in medicine. I’m very proud of what we have built and the work we continue to do everyday. Thank you for trusting us with your medical care for the last decade, and beyond.

Dr Gabriel is finishing up her 4 month placement with us, medical student Rebecca finishes next week, and Sam has been filling in at the reception desk and helping with Dr Osborne’s patients.

We have been so lucky to have these 3 on our team and wish them all the best in their next chapters!

Congratulations Dr Lethbridge & Melina! What lovely words from one of our awesome patients ❤️❤️❤️

We would like to recognize another hero in healthcare who was presented with a Guardian Angel award recently! The Guardian Angel program celebrates those who have made a significant difference in the lives of their patients, often going above and beyond the call of duty. Dr. Rebecca Lethbridge has been recognized for her phenomenal work recently.

Dr. Lethbridge's nominator shared their experience and gratitude with us as follows: "Dr. Lethbridge, you’ve been our family doctor since Covid, and when I became pregnant with our first child last year, you followed me for my first 20 weeks. Every test I had performed, you made sure I was contacted about the results as soon as they were available (your receptionist, Melina, is such an angel to deal with, as well, she even called me late on a Friday with ultrasound results, so I didn’t have to wait all weekend). You’re kind, caring and you always have a smile for your patients. I remember our first appointment back with our daughter after being followed by the OB until birth, you were thrilled to finally meet her and made sure I was doing okay post-partum. We are so blessed to have you and now our daughter is blessed to have you as her doctor. You truly are our Guardian Angel and if anyone was meant to be a doctor, it was you."
