We would like to recognize another hero in healthcare who was presented with a Guardian Angel award recently! The Guardian Angel program celebrates those who have made a significant difference in the lives of their patients, often going above and beyond the call of duty.

Dr. Nadean Caines was recognized for her phenomenal work recently and was presented with her 6th Guardian Angel Award from the WRH Foundation!

Dr. Caines' nominator shared their experience and gratitude with us as follows: "I was initially scheduled for a smaller, routine procedure, but when I told you about worsening pain and discomfort just days before surgery, you listened carefully and took my concerns seriously. You immediately ordered the appropriate tests, which revealed findings that required a larger and more complex surgery. Because of your quick action and clinical judgment, the issue was identified and addressed promptly.

Beyond your medical expertise, you showed exceptional kindness and support. I was experiencing overwhelming anxiety, and you took the time to reassure me, explain each step, and support me emotionally throughout the entire process. Your calm presence and compassion made an experience that could have been terrifying feel manageable and safe.

My surgery went very well, and I truly believe that is because of your attentiveness, skill, and dedication. Dr. Caines, you made me feel seen, heard, and cared for as a person and not just a patient. I will always be grateful for the way you guided me through one of the most difficult moments of my life.

You are exactly the kind of physician this award was created to recognize. Thank you, Dr. Caines, for being my guardian angel!"

We would like to recognize another hero in healthcare who was presented with a Guardian Angel award recently! The Guardian Angel program celebrates those who have made a significant difference in the lives of their patients, often going above and beyond the call of duty.

Jennifer Neilson has been recognized for her phenomenal work recently and was presented with a Guardian Angel Award from the WRH Foundation!

Jennifer's nominator shared their experience and gratitude with us as follows: "Jennifer, thank you for truly listening to our concerns while triaging and assessing my father. Symptoms that initially appeared to be moderate hypertension, combined with recent surgery could have easily been minimized, but you took it very seriously. Your prompt, thorough assessment and swift diagnosis went above and beyond, and it made all the difference.
We are endlessly grateful for your compassion, intelligence, professionalism, and sound clinical judgment. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the care you provided and for treating my father with such respect and humanity. Thank you for being our Guardian Angel!"

One of the underlying themes of International Women’s Day this year is “Generosity in Action”. We would like to thank these incredible women for giving of their time and their talent and in turn making our hospital gift shop, The Giving Tree, the beautiful place that it is!

Suzanne Arenas, Dale Woodman and Michelle Vatcher have been recognized for their phenomenal work recently and were presented with Guardian Angel Awards from the WRH Foundation!

Suzanne, Dale and Michelle's nominator shared their experience and gratitude with us as follows: "Thank you for the care, respect and affection you constantly provided our family member when she was a resident in Bungalow 1. Everything you each did for her was greatly appreciated by our family. We truly feel that you went above and beyond with your treatment and concern, as well as your soft voices, reassurances and gentle demeanours. We witnessed this care not only provided to our loved one but to each of the other residents as well. Thank you, dear Angels!"
