I would like to provide an update on my adult autism assessment clinic. I have made the incredibly difficult decision to close as I am no longer able to make the time commitment. It was my hope to meet each and everyone of you. For those of you I have had the privilege to work with, I want to say thank you.

I am currently sending email follow ups to some clients who requested an assessment. Please check your junk mail as some emails put unknown senders directly in junk mail. Thank you.

Virtual Adult Life Skills - Save the Date!
Application to register for the Adult Life Skills Program will open Monday, April 15 at 10:00am (NL time, 9:30am most of Labrador).
Program is free, space is limited and will be on a first come first serve basis.

via Zoom, Sunday's 6:00 - 7:30pm for 6 wks. open to Autistic adults in all regions of Newfoundland and Labrador. An internet connection with enough bandwidth to allow video conferencing is recommended. Anticipated run time April 28 - June 2.

consist of up to 10 participants (18+) and two facilitators, a digital copy of program materials, and when applicable a list of suggested items for the session will be emailed to participants on the Tuesday before each module. Cameras and microphones are optional, most teaching will be done via facilitator examples, and videos, with time for questions and discussion between sections.

largely Autistic developed and led, presumes competence of participants, and provides education and opportunities to practice skills for everyday autonomous living. Due to the virtual nature and group size there may not be opportunities to practice skills 1-on-1 during group like there is with the in-person version, program coordinator is working on ways to mitigate this difference.

Skills are grouped into 6 main topics and content will be adjusted post-intake based on common goals of participants:
• Communication - Autonomy, Boundaries, Consent, and Online Safety
• Time Management - Routine, Scheduling, and Sleep
• Self Care - Hygiene, Recognizing Burnout, Personal Wellness Plan
• Household - Safety, and Chores
• Meal Prep - Food Safety, Using Kitchen Appliances, and Making Simple Meals
• Finances - Spending, Saving, Budgeting
Completion of application does not guarantee a space, once form closes a follow-up message will be sent to the email address provided in the about scheduling an intake or being placed on the waitlist.

An update on service fees:

Hourly Rate: $250/hr

Regarding Qalipu coverage: Qalipu covers most aspects of the autism service. We would need to speak in person to determine what aspects are covered for you.

Psychological services are covered by most insurance companies. It is the responsibility of the client to contact their insurance company to determine their coverage.

I am so excited to soon be able to open my practice. I am waiting on some seating to arrive and then my door will be open. Delivery has been slow due to snow storms across the country. I have been told I have 2-3 weeks before they arrive. I am hopeful it will be sooner.

01/25/2024

Welcome! My clinic is opening in March 2024. In the next few weeks I will be providing information on how to make a referral and how to contact me. I am excited to get started and meet you all!
