As the year comes to a close, we want to say thank you. Sheila Tallon & Associates exists because of community, and we’re deeply grateful for the trust, support, and meaningful connections that shape who we are.

As we step into 2026, we invite you to move forward with intention, at your own pace. A new year doesn’t need reinvention; it can simply be a continued journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery.

Today we took part in the One Bag Challenge for The Agape Centre! This event has been running all month (Sept 1–30) and today is the very last day.

The challenge was simple but powerful:
✔️ Purchase a bag of groceries (this year’s requests were canned veggies, beans, soup & canned meat).
✔️ Drop it off at the Agape Centre between 8–4.
✔️ Share a selfie with your donation and spread the word!

Even though it’s the last day, we are glad we were able to participate and help keep the shelves stocked before the busiest time of the year.

A big thank you to Central Healing Counselling Inc. and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall & District for nominating Sheila Tallon & Associates - Social Work and Psychotherapy. Proud to have been part of this community effort.

Today, we pause to honour the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never made it home, and the families and communities who carry these stories forward. We remember, we reflect, and we commit to listening with open hearts.

At Sheila Tallon & Associates, we are humbled to walk alongside members of the Mohawk Akwesasne First Nation and other Indigenous communities. We remain dedicated to deepening our understanding, supporting healing, and contributing to reconciliation through respect, awareness, and care.

We are also committed to offering a safe, supportive space for those seeking care—because every voice and every story matters.

Sometimes we don’t even realize we’re struggling to regulate our emotions — but here are a few signs it might be happening:

• 😤 Overreacting to small things
• 🎢 Mood swings that feel like a rollercoaster
• ⚡ Acting impulsively or without thinking
• 🧨 Bottling up emotions until they explode
• 🤐 Difficulty expressing how you really feel
• 💔 Constant conflict or disconnection in relationships

🌟 Meet Sharon Hamil – Our Newest Associate at Sheila Tallon & Associates 🌟

We are so pleased to welcome Sharon Hamil to our team of dedicated mental health professionals. Sharon is a licensed psychotherapist and social worker with over a decade of experience supporting individuals through life’s most complex emotional and psychological challenges.

Sharon works with adolescents, teens, and adults, offering compassionate, evidence-based care for those navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), she tailors her approach to meet each client’s unique needs.

In addition to traditional therapy, Sharon also offers Equine Therapy—a powerful, experiential modality that uses the connection with horses to support emotional growth and trauma recovery in a deeply healing way.

With warmth, empathy, and clinical expertise, Sharon helps clients uncover root causes, build resilience, and take meaningful steps toward lasting change. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the incredible work she’ll continue to do.

🌟Introducing Lila Lapier to Sheila Tallon & Associates! 🌟

We are thrilled to welcome Lila, a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a Full Professional Certified Member CYW (C*C Cert.) of the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Care. With over 20 years of experience, Lila has worked in a wide range of settings, including school-based, community-based mental health programs, and within the justice system, providing invaluable support to children, youth, and families.

Lila’s expertise also extends to individuals of all ages, helping clients navigate challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief & loss, relationship issues, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. Her approach is client-centered, strength-based, and grounded in evidence-based frameworks like trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Lila is deeply committed to creating a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where clients can feel supported in achieving their personal goals. She is excited to be a part of our team and to continue making a positive impact on the lives of those she works with.
