Sunday Self-Care Reminder 🌿

Your nervous system does not need perfection today.
It just needs moments.

✨ A moment to pause
✨ A moment to notice your breath (in a way that feels comfortable for you)
✨ A moment to soften your shoulders
✨ A moment to land in your body
✨ A moment to choose something that feels supportive

You’re allowed to rest.
You’re allowed to take things slowly.
You’re allowed to tend to you today.

What’s one tiny act of care your system is asking for? 💛

Have you ever laid in bed feeling like you've been awake for hours?
I just recorded a video about something called sleep misperception—and the story I share might completely change how you think about your sleep.

In this video, you'll learn:
What sleep misperception is and why it happens
How our beliefs about sleep affect how we feel
Why curiosity (instead of criticism) is so important
How to bring compassion to your sleep experience

Does this resonate with you? Have you ever wondered if you're misperceiving how much sleep you're actually getting?

If you have questions, reach out at carol@carolrichardcoaching.com. I love hearing from you!

Ever see a meme or reel that feels a little too real? 😂

In this one, someone says:
“Dude, I'm so tired. I would give anything to get 8 hours of sleep.”
And the other person replies:
“What about going to bed 8 hours before you have to wake up?”
And the first person goes:
“No, I’m not doing that!”

We laugh because it’s relatable… but there’s also something deeper happening here. 🌿

If you've ever said “I’m exhausted… but I can’t make myself go to bed earlier,” please know this isn’t a discipline issue.
It’s a nervous system issue.

When your system is stuck in “go-mode,” or when evenings are the only time your body finally slows down… going to bed early doesn’t feel comforting — it feels impossible.

Sometimes the body isn’t avoiding sleep…
it’s avoiding the feelings that show up when things get quiet.

If this resonates, you’re not alone.
Gentle reminder: you don’t have to overhaul your whole night — just start by noticing your patterns with kindness, not judgment. Your nervous system is always doing the best it can to keep you safe. ✨

💛 Curious question:
What part of your evening feels hardest for your nervous system — winding down, getting into bed, or staying asleep?

Big hug,
Carol 🌙💛

🌿 Your Nervous System Loves Slow, Quiet Progress

When you read this quote, notice what it stirs in you.

So much of your healing and growth happens in tiny, almost invisible ways — the softer breath, the moment you pause, the way you catch yourself with more gentleness than before.

Your nervous system doesn’t change in big, dramatic leaps.
It grows through little glimmers of safety, small choices, and quiet awareness.

So if today doesn’t feel “productive” or “transformational,” that’s okay.

Some days your only job is to sit with yourself and notice:

✨ “I’m not who I used to be.”
✨ “I’m learning.”
✨ “I’m growing in ways that aren’t always visible.”

Tiny shifts count.
Invisible progress counts.
You count. 💛

Hugs,
Carol 🌙

🌙 Sleep is a very vulnerable place to be…

Because when you lie down at night, you’re not just “trying to sleep.”

You’re letting go.
You’re releasing control.
You’re stepping into stillness.
You’re trusting that your body will take care of you while you rest.

And for a lot of us—especially those with sensitive or overwhelmed nervous systems—that level of vulnerability can feel really hard.
Not because you’re doing anything wrong…
But because your system has been working overtime for so long that slowing down feels unfamiliar.

If this is you, I want you to know something gently and clearly:

💛 Nothing about this makes you weak.
💛 Your body is not failing you.
💛 Your nervous system is doing its best to protect you.

And the beautiful news?
Just like it learned to stay alert… it can learn to feel safe enough to rest again.

One gentle moment at a time.
One breath that feels comfortable.
One cue of safety.
One small practice that brings you back into your body.

Sleep will come more easily when your nervous system trusts that it’s safe to soften.

You’re on your way.
And you’re not alone. 🌿

Big hug,
Carol 💛🌙

Does this sound familiar?

"My body at 3am:
Let's wake her up for no reason.
My body ten minutes till alarm:
Let's make her feel more comfortable than she's ever felt in her life."

If you’re nodding your head… you’re not alone.

And no, this isn’t your body being “difficult” — this is your nervous system doing what it’s been wired to do: protect you.

3am wake-ups often happen when your system has been carrying the day’s stress, emotions, or responsibilities without a chance to settle.

Your body isn’t trying to sabotage your sleep… it’s trying to keep you safe.

Then, right before the alarm?

Your nervous system finally softens… your body finally feels safe… and that is when the comfort lands.

Not because you’re suddenly good at sleeping — but because your biology is responding to a moment of ease.

If this is you, here’s your gentle reminder:
✨ There’s nothing wrong with you.
✨ Your body is communicating.
✨ And with a little nervous system support, sleep truly can become easier again.

Curious question:
🌙 What’s one small thing your body might be asking for tonight?
A slower pace, a softer evening, a little compassion?

Big hug,
Carol 💛

Ever notice how easy it is to forget to tap when you actually need it most?
When your thoughts are racing, or your body feels like it’s buzzing?

That’s why I’m so happy to share something my friend Gene Monterastelli has created — the Integrated Tapping Summit.

It’s designed to help you bring tapping off the shelf and into your daily life.

You’ll hear from eight experts per topic, all exploring how tapping can support self-love, emotional healing, physical health, and more.

It’s free to register, and I know it’s going to be so good. 💛

🌿 Sometimes the smallest thing you do today becomes the biggest gift to your future self.

One gentle pause.
One moment of noticing your nervous system.
One kind thought toward your body.
One breath that feels good.

These tiny choices add up.
They build trust.
They build safety.
They build a version of you who sleeps easier and moves through life with more steadiness.

Curious question…
👉 What’s one small thing your future self will thank you for today?

Big hug,
Carol 💛

If you already know that tapping works but sometimes forget to do it (you’re not alone!), this might be exactly what you need. 💛

My friend Gene Monterastelli has created the Integrated Tapping Summit, happening Nov 15–21, and it’s a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with this powerful practice.

Each session weaves together multiple voices, stories, and real-life tools — so you can make tapping something your nervous system naturally reaches for throughout your day. 🌙

“Small, Gentle Steps That Lead to Deep Rest”

So often, when we want to sleep better, we think we need to do more — new routines, stricter schedules, big lifestyle overhauls.

But your nervous system doesn’t thrive on pressure. It thrives on safety.

In our Better Sleep Community this week, we talked about something I call Inspired Trauma-Safe Actions (ITSAs) — small, kind steps that your system actually has the capacity to receive.

Because when the step feels safe, the body relaxes.

And when the body relaxes… sleep follows naturally.

It’s not about forcing rest.
It’s about building trust — one gentle action at a time.

Curious question 🌙
What’s one small, nurturing action your nervous system is asking for tonight?

Big hug,
Carol 🤍

🌙 There’s a Gift in Every Obstacle

When sleep feels impossible, it’s easy to believe that something is wrong with you.

But what if your body isn’t failing you… it’s trying to show you something?

Every restless night, every early wake-up, every moment of frustration — it’s all information from your nervous system.
It’s whispering, “Something here needs your attention.”

The gift inside the obstacle is awareness.

And awareness is the first step toward healing.

💭 What if your sleep struggle isn’t the problem, but the invitation to understand yourself more deeply?

💜 You are not stuck — you’re uncovering the root cause.
And once that happens, peaceful sleep naturally begins to return.

Big hug,
Carol

🌙 Listening to Your Body’s Signals

So often, we treat insomnia like the problem to fix…
but what if it’s actually a message?

Your body is always communicating — through tension, racing thoughts, restless nights, or that 3 a.m. wide-awake feeling. These signals aren’t your body failing you; they’re your nervous system saying, “Something needs care.”

When we start listening instead of fighting — noticing the patterns, the stress, the unmet needs — we begin to understand what our body has been trying to tell us all along.

💛 Sleep struggles aren’t random. They’re symptoms — gentle (and sometimes loud!) invitations to slow down, regulate, and reconnect.

💭 What is your body whispering to you today?

Big hug,
Carol 🌿

How working with different energy modalities made me who I am today....

In May of 2010 I got my first introduction to energy work. I attended the level 1 reiki course with my mentor Marie Ange Michaud. To say that it changed my life is an understatement. Since then, I’ve attended workshops every year and reached my Reiki Master level in 2017. What Marie Ange teaches is for us to live a live by the 5 principles of Reiki which are:

  • Just for today I will not worry

  • Just for today I will not be angry

  • Just for today I will do my work honestly
