Children's Treatment Centre - Cornwall Ontario

Children's Treatment Centre - Cornwall Ontario The Children’s Treatment Centre is a community based, community supported agency committed to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

We provide free and immediate assessment and treatment to any child in need and that child’s family. OUR PROGRAMS

The Centre provides three (3) programs for children and adolescents. The First Program – operated by the Centre is for children and adolescents, five (5) to seventeen (17) years who have been physically and/or sexually abused. They receive assessment and counseling services to recover

from the traumatic effects of the abuse they suffered. The goal of our first program is to help children who have been sexually or physically abused overcome the psychologically negative impact of abuse through comprehensive, professional assessment and counseling at the Centre and continue to developmentally progress in a healthy manner, without the effects of abuse impeding this development. The Second Program – at the Centre provides assessment and counseling services to adolescents, twelve (12) to seventeen (17) years who have committed sexual offences against young children. Adolescent males, twelve to seventeen years old, who have committed sexual offences against younger children, will receive comprehensive clinical assessment to determine if they will benefit from treatment to prevent them from committing further sexual offences against young children. If the youth is considered able to benefit from treatment, he will receive counseling to prevent further sexual offending as an adult. The Third Program – is for children ages five (5) to eleven (11) years who are sexually reactive or sexually aggressive towards same age peers. In September 2011, as a result of request from various community agencies, the Centre started an additional service for sexually aggressive/sexually reactive children. This is a prevention program aimed at helping children between the ages of 5 and 11 years who have engaged in sexually aggressive behaviours towards peers.

The Paquette Girls

A Sweet Story 🧁

❓❓❓Question: How many cupcakes need to be baked, decorated, boxed, and delivered to raise $8,222.00?

Best guess – A LOT!

In 2024, Isabelle and Katie Paquette raised an impressive $7,652.00 through their cupcake fundraiser. This year, keeping it a true family affair, their younger sister, Charlotte, joined in to help take the initiative even further.

In recognition of their incredible efforts, CTC President, David Michaud, presented the three sisters with the Board of Director’s President’s Award – an honor given annually to a non-clergy participant who raises the highest amount in the Children’s Treatment Centre Bike-A-Thon.

During the presentation, David shared these words: “In closing, I want to say the time, effort, commitment, and passion shown by you three young ladies is an inspiration to us all. You are indeed role models for other youths to follow.”

No truer words were ever spoken.

As we wrap up the final day of the 2025 Bike-A-Thon, we take a moment – filled with pride and nostalgia – to reflect on the beginning of this event which has become a cornerstone of support for the Children’s Treatment Centre over the past 27 years.

Many will remember it was the local Children’s Aid Society (CAS) that first launched the Bike-A-Thon in the mid 70’s as an initiative to raise funds to build an extension to the building of the CAS. In 1998, the CAS passed the torch to the Children’s Treatment Centre, ensuring the tradition of helping children in need.

Now marking 50 years in the communities of S D & G, the Bike-A-Thon has long been a symbol of local generosity and commitment to helping children in need.

The picture of the ceremonial handover of the event features Jeanette Scrimshaw who was President of the CAS at that time; Richard Abell, then CAS Executive Director and Jake Lamoureux who served as Chair of Fundraising for the Children’s Treatment Centre in 1998.

THANK YOU to everyone who continues to make this event and its legacy possible.
