Children's Treatment Centre - Cornwall Ontario

Children's Treatment Centre - Cornwall Ontario The Children’s Treatment Centre is a community based, community supported agency committed to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

We provide free and immediate assessment and treatment to any child in need and that child’s family. OUR PROGRAMS

The Centre provides three (3) programs for children and adolescents. The First Program – operated by the Centre is for children and adolescents, five (5) to seventeen (17) years who have been physically and/or sexually abused. They receive assessment and counseling services to recover from the traumatic effects of the abuse they suffered. The goal of our first program is to help children who have been sexually or physically abused overcome the psychologically negative impact of abuse through comprehensive, professional assessment and counseling at the Centre and continue to developmentally progress in a healthy manner, without the effects of abuse impeding this development. The Second Program – at the Centre provides assessment and counseling services to adolescents, twelve (12) to seventeen (17) years who have committed sexual offences against young children. Adolescent males, twelve to seventeen years old, who have committed sexual offences against younger children, will receive comprehensive clinical assessment to determine if they will benefit from treatment to prevent them from committing further sexual offences against young children. If the youth is considered able to benefit from treatment, he will receive counseling to prevent further sexual offending as an adult. The Third Program – is for children ages five (5) to eleven (11) years who are sexually reactive or sexually aggressive towards same age peers. In September 2011, as a result of request from various community agencies, the Centre started an additional service for sexually aggressive/sexually reactive children. This is a prevention program aimed at helping children between the ages of 5 and 11 years who have engaged in sexually aggressive behaviours towards peers.

On Tuesday, November 11, we pause as a nation to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. On this day, we also express gratitude to those who continue to serve on peacekeeping missions around the world — often far from their families and loved ones.

Wearing a poppy is a simple yet powerful act of remembrance and solidarity — a tribute to their courage, dedication, and sacrifice.

“We will remember them.”

You may recall a previous posting featuring Ithaca Silva, a 12-year-old young lady who published a book called “Thoughts” and donated all the proceeds from the sales of her book to the Children’s Treatment Centre. Think about that, a 12-year-old published author!!

Ithaca recently visited the office and donated another $200 of the sale proceeds. She is seen here presenting a cheque to Don Fairweather, Past President and current Board Member. To date, Ithaca has donated $796 from this project. Ithaca was asked what prompted her to donate to the Centre. Her reply: “ I love to support you guys.” Inspiring.

Spoiler alert! A second book is soon to be published entitled: “The Crayon Box”, a book on diversity within community. We will keep you posted on the details.

With Gratitude this Thanksgiving!

As we approach Thanksgiving, the Children’s Treatment Centre reflects with deep gratitude: For 29 years, a generous and caring community along with those involved in fundraising events have stood by us—raising awareness, volunteering time, and providing the financial support that makes our work possible.

We are especially thankful for our dedicated staff, whose compassion and expertise bring healing and hope to every child and family we serve. We also honor our volunteer receptionists, who create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for children and families.

Our committed Board of Directors ensures strong governance, and we remember with appreciation those no longer with us, whose legacy lives on in our mission.

As we prepare to celebrate 30 years of service next year, we’re proud to have supported 3,176 children from 2,764 families—each a reminder of what we can achieve together.

We are truly blessed.

On the afternoon of September 20th, 2025 at the Flyboy Canada disc golf course [located in Guindon Park], members of the local and extended Kennedy families played in the first Bev Kennedy Disc Golf Tournament, with proceeds given to the Children’s Treatment Centre.

Longtime Children’s Treatment Centre supporter and now a St. Joseph’s Villa resident, Bev Kennedy was in attendance for the action and also graciously donated a trophy for this event. A great time was had by all participants for a wonderful cause.

Seen here is Addison Kennedy, one of the event organizers [and member of the winning team along with her partner, Pat Clarke] presenting CTC Past President, Don Fairweather with $150 collected from participant donations.

Hockey Legend Larry Robinson Tees Off for a Great Cause!

Montreal Canadiens great and Hockey Hall of Famer Larry Robinson was recently in town to hit the golf course alongside Sean Adams and his son, Nikolai, as well as Brian Johnston and his son-in-law, Stephen Noseworthy.

Larry was the featured guest in this year’s Charity Auction organized by the Children’s Treatment Centre, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience: “Golf and Dinner with Larry Robinson.” The winning bid helped raise an impressive $5,000 for the Centre.

By all accounts, Larry proved once again that he is a champion both on and off the ice. Gracious, personable, and generous, he freely donated his time and reputation to support the important work being done by the Centre.
