Ahimsa is the first limb of yoga (Yama), which dictates non-harming to all living creatures and nature itself - being stewards to our environment and our own health.
Well I finally got around to making my own detergent - cutting down on wasteful plastic & no harsh chemicals or scents.

2 c. Washing Soda
2 c. Baking Soda
2/3 c. Epsom salt
3 Tbsp. Table salt
Essential oil for scent (optional)

Blend in a food processor. Store. Use 2 Tbsp per full load.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping is a therapeutic tool combining ancient acupressure with modern psychology to reduce stress, anxiety, and physical pain. By tapping on energy pathways - or meridians - you can desensitize the body's stress response.

Carol will show us how to do this for ourselves!

This beloved mantra echoes the ancient Sanskrit prayer Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, a wish offered not just for ourselves, but for every living being across the world. In yoga philosophy, this sentiment reflects the practice of ahimsa (non-harming) and the recognition that we are all deeply interconnected.

When we pause to wish happiness and freedom for all, we soften the boundaries of the self and remember that our well-being is woven into the well-being of others. 💭

I've never wanted to point and flex my toes so badly.
This is a lesson in patience and gratitude.

I had my appointment with the orthopedic specialist today. I went in prepared to wait hours...packed my book, my snacks, my water bottle. As much as I'd like to think I packed my patience, that is never the case!
When they called me back after only waiting 15 minutes, I was extremely thankful! The doctor was super nice, the nurses too, I got the 5star treatment. I left 15 minutes later with instructions to keep taping, keep wearing my boot and, in a few weeks, to start bearing weight again. 😬 Did you know, the pinkie toe takes 25% of our weight?
Grateful!

Also grateful that it was only a pinkie toe.

But, yes, when I decide to do a job, I do it full out!

Be careful out there, y'all! And no matter what, please stay healthy and active. Times like this are so much easier when your body can handle it!

So thankful that, even with a broken toe, I can still do my favorite wall stretches. These stretches are so good! Why?

- Legs up the wall help to reduce swelling in the lower extremities
- and stretch the hamstrings (back of the legs)
- Helps to reset the hips & lower back
- stretches the adductors (inner thigh muscles)
- Stretches the glutes, hips, and lower back which are super stressed by limping and forcing the hips into an uneven gait

I'll add stacked-knee reclined twists to this series, wringing out the stale energy - more beneficial now that I can't walk or run. This also helps with opening up the upper torso, undoing a stressed & hunched posture.

The best part? You can do these poses injured or not injured.

Weight & Warriors starts tomorrow @ 6:30 pm!!

Why weights and yoga? As we age, our muscle mass decreases. Strength training is crucial for maintaining bone and muscle health, particularly during peri-menopause and after menopause, when declining estrogen levels accelerate bone density reduction and contribute to muscle loss. When muscle pulls on bone during resistance training, it stimulates bone-building cells.

While this class offers all the benefits of strength training, it also offers the benefit of moving with intention, breathwork & meditation, and connecting with community.

There is still room to join us! $50/4-week session or $15/drop-in.
