Interested in Osteopathy? Starting August 7th, Marley will be offering Osteopathic Treatment at Broken Squirrel!

In Canada, Osteopathic Manual Practice is a hands-on therapy that focuses on the relationship between the body's structure and its ability to function. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OMPs) employ a holistic approach, considering the interconnectedness of the body's systems, to help the body self-heal and self-regulate. They use various manual techniques to address musculoskeletal imbalances and restrictions, aiming to optimize the body's natural healing mechanisms.

It is recommended to see an OMP when experiencing issues such as back or neck pain, joint or muscle discomfort, poor posture, limited mobility, or tension-related headaches. It's also helpful for recovery after injury, managing chronic pain, or improving overall body function and alignment.

MEET MARLEY:

Marley will be beginning his osteopathic practice at Broken Squirrel Wellness in August!

Marley grew up in Whistler with a passion for the outdoors. His early love for skiing naturally extended to other sports offered by the region, including mountain biking, hiking, kayaking and surfing in Tofino. Like many young athletes, Marley faced multiple injuries, leading to frustration with chronic shoulder pain and immobility.

To pursue his interest in sports and rehabilitation, Marley moved to Vancouver and earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia. He furthered his studies by obtaining his certification in Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) in Phoenix, Arizona, under the guidance of FST founders Ann and Chris Frederick. Marley continued his education with a four-year Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice (D.O.M.P.) from the Canadian School of Osteopathy, where he explored the complex biomechanics and interconnections of the body. Driven by a passion for helping others return to their athletic pursuits, Marley combines corrective osteopathic techniques with fascial stretching to enhance mobility, stabilize joints, and alleviate chronic pain.

Yoga Strong is therapeutic by design, as it improves cardiovascular and metabolic health, boosts mental clarity, builds lean muscle mass, and enhances balance, mobility, and coordination.

Don’t let the name fool you - or rather, take it seriously - because strong is what you will become! Mary's class incorporates resistance training and weight-bearing exercises to address age-related muscle and bone mineral density loss, which is particularly important for fall risk protection.

Classes begin powerfully with resistance training and cardio intervals to peak heart rate levels. After sweating with intention, the class moves into a cool-down stretch and restorative practice to aid the body in parasympathetic nervous system recovery.
