Week 3 — Train your dragon (June 29–July 3)

Your child isn't too much. Their big feelings aren't a problem to solve.

This week we learn about the part of the brain that drives big reactions — and build the tools to work with it, not against it. Every child leaves with their own personalised dragon-taming toolkit.

🦅 Week 2: Birds + flying — coming up next

Not every bird learns to fly the same way. Not every kid does either — and that's exactly the point.

This week at Treehouse Therapy, we're exploring perseverance through the world of birds. Using Unflappable as our guide, children ages 5–9 will discover what it means to keep going — not because they have to, but because they believe in themselves.

✅ Explore what 'trying again' feels like in a safe space
✅ Build resilience through play and gentle challenge
✅ Celebrate every attempt — not just the result
✅ Leave with a personal strength keepsake + take-home summary

One week. Max 6 kids. Mon–Fri 8:30–12:30 · Comox Valley

Finally — a summer camp designed for the child who needs a gentler kind of summer. Six kids. One therapist. Zero pressure.

Week 1 is almost here — Colorful creators (June 15–19)

This week we explore emotions through colour. Using The Colour Monster as our guide, children ages 5–9 will discover that every feeling has a colour — and every colour belongs. No pressure to perform. No forced participation. Just art, play, and a small group of 6 kids who get to be exactly who they are.

A few spots still available for this week.

For the kid who watches from the edges before they step in. We built this for them.

These camps are built to celebrate your child exactly as they are — while gently growing their confidence, friendships, and sense of self.

✨Six kids. One therapist. A week designed for your child who finds the world a little loud.✨

Does your child want friends — but freeze when it's time to join in?

You're not imagining it. And there's nothing wrong with them.

Some kids need a smaller stage. A quieter start. A group where they get to be known before they're expected to perform.

That's what these camps are.

Treehouse Therapy summer camps are for children ages 5–9 who are shy, socially anxious, sensitive, or simply slower to warm up. Groups of 6. Led by a therapist. Structured around safety, connection, and play.

Six standalone weeks, June 15 – July 23 in Comox Valley. Register for one week or several.

Mindfulness is the practice of gently bringing your attention to the present moment.

When we slow down and notice our breath, body, or surroundings, we signal safety to the nervous system.

Regular mindfulness practice can help:
• Calm the stress response
• Reduce anxiety and emotional reactivity
• Improve focus and mood
• Strengthen your ability to pause instead of react

Small moments of awareness can create meaningful shifts in how your body and mind respond to stress.

If you're curious about learning more ways to support nervous system regulation, working with a therapist can help you build practices that fit your life.

At Treehouse Therapy, we believe healing happens when your innate wisdom—the deep knowing within you—is supported by modern neuroscience. Our work integrates somatic therapies, mindfulness, and brain-based research rooted in science to reduce symptoms, improve mood, and enhance overall quality of life.

Our therapists draw from a range of proven approaches, including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Direct Neurofeedback, Hakomi, EMDR, Synergetic Play Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families. Together, these approaches help support meaningful change and guide you toward your goals in therapy.

What does this mean for you?
• A therapist who adapts to YOUR needs
• Evidence-based methods that actually work
• A safe space where healing happens naturally

You don't have to figure this out alone. Let's find the path that works for you.

How Your Brain Can Heal: The Science Behind EMDR & ART

Did you know your brain has an incredible capacity to reprocess traumatic memories?

Both EMDR and ART use bilateral stimulation to help your brain naturally heal from trauma:

EMDR → Uses eye movements to reprocess memories while updating negative beliefs

ART → Combines eye movements with voluntary image replacement to "re-script" difficult memories

The result? Those memories lose their emotional charge, allowing you to move forward with greater peace.

Learn more about which approach might serve you best. Schedule a consultation with Tracy Sutton, RCC through our Jane App (link in Bio) or by contacting our office
