I hope everyone has enjoyed a fun and safe summer and got to see all of your loved ones as we enter the final stretch of the season for most of us. Just a quick house keeping update on a few details that I've been meaning to reach out about!

Firstly, as restrictions were lifted in July, I have updated cleaning and screening protocols from ā€œCovid Protocolsā€ to ā€œCommunicable Disease Protoolsā€ available on my website at cortesislandrmt.com as per the College of Massage Therapists and the BCCDC. Like all public indoor spaces, masks are still required. The long and short of it is that not much has changed really! At this point, prescreening checks are informal and I ask you to complete those independently and needless to say, if you are sick or self isolating please stay home! With that said though, we will see how long these changes last..

Secondly, I have re-launched online booking for your convenience and mine! You can find this link on my website at cortesislandrmt.com.

A reminder that ā€œBenefit Seasonā€ is fast approaching. September through December are undoubtedly our busiest months as RMT’s as people try to use up their benefits for the year. If you are one of these people, I encourage you to start thinking about using some of them before November. Perhaps you would like to start booking a few maintenance treatments over the next few months by using my online booking system! Historically, I have added additional time into my December schedule to accommodate my patients. However, this year, I will be prioritizing spending time with my family for that magical time of year! So, if you find yourself scrambling at the end of every year to use up your massage benefits, I urge you to think ahead this year!

I think that’s all for now. May September bring us oh so much rain! :)

Warmly,

Sarah Robinson, RMT

Covid Protocols:

Hi Everyone!

The following is a guideline of the additional safety protocols I will be instituting to minimize risk of transmission of COVID-19 should you be coming for treatment. I ask that you read this over if you are booking with me.

These guidelines are set out in the Interim Guidelines For Return To Practice with guidance from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), the Provincial Health Office (PHO), and WorkSafeBC to keep you and our community safe.

For the foreseeable future, I will not have my online booking program available and will strictly be booking via phone or email so I can have better control of scheduling to allow for proper spacing for cleaning protocols between patients.

Upon booking an appointment, I will email you a COVID-19 questionnaire and consent to treatment form that must be filled out before treatment to confirm you are symptom-free and have not been exposed to anyone who may or is a confirmed case of COVID-19. I cannot treat you if you are sick, have COVID-19 symptoms or have travelled outside of B.C. in the last 14 days. I will be required to go through a screening process with you at the time of booking your appointment, the day before your appointment as well as another screening at your arrival for treatment. I will also be using this same assessment on myself every day in addition to recording my temperature.

Upon arrival, I will ask you to wait on the deck outside the Gorge store entrance until your appointment time at which point I will come and collect you. I will have hand sanitizer for you to apply as you enter the building. It is now mandatory to wear a mask for the full duration of your appointment. If you have a mask, please bring it with you. If you do not have a mask, I will provide one. I will also be wearing a mask during your treatment. You will then have an opportunity to re-sanitize your hands on your departure.

The treatment room will be stripped of any decor, all porous surfaces, and all high touch surfaces will be thoroughly sanitized between each patient - including the table, face cradle, door handles, light switches, bathroom surfaces, and taps. Additionally, I will be unable to use thermophores at this time.

Because COVID19 can be spread by touch, it is recommended that you use a tissue to scratch an itch or for a sneeze or cough and that you avoid touching your face.

I am hopeful to do most payments via contactless payment through direct billing and e-transfer where applicable but credit card, cash and cheques will still be accepted.

There will be a COVID-19 consent waiver that will need to be signed for each treatment. This form recognizes that while I will be taking measures to minimize the risk of transmission, due to the nature of massage therapy, physical distancing cannot be practiced during treatment. At the direction of health authorities, I feel that I am able to provide care to my patients at this time. I will be following a strict protocol to reduce and mitigate risk - however, that risk cannot be completely minimized and it is up to each individual to determine if the benefit outweighs the risk.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this complicated time. I very much look forward to helping you reach your physical goals!

With much warmth,

Sarah Robinson, RMT
