It's not weakness.

Here's something that changed how I think about breath. 🤍

Your breath is the only part of your autonomic nervous system you can consciously control. Everything else, your heart rate, your digestion, your stress response all happens without you.

But your breath? That one's yours.

When you slow your exhale, your heart rate follows. Your body starts to receive a different message, one that says: we're safe. We can soften. We can open.

Fear shortens the breath before the mind even registers it. Which means breath is often the fastest way back.

Not a technique you have to perfect. Not something that requires a quiet room or a spare hour. Just a breath that's a little slower, a little fuller. Anywhere. Anytime.

Most women come to me carrying years of birth fear stories from their mum, from TV, from a friend who had a hard time.

And that fear lives in the body. It's not just in your head.

When fear is present, the body braces. Muscles tighten. The breath shortens. Labour becomes harder than it needs to be.

Hypnotherapy works at the level where that fear lives, the subconscious patterns, the deep nervous system responses that no amount of positive thinking can touch on its own.
