83% of British Columbians support including chiropractors in collaborative care teams.

That’s not just a statistic — it reflects a shift toward how healthcare should feel: connected, accessible, and centered around the patient.

At Grove Health & Wellness, collaboration isn’t a concept — it’s how we care. Our chiropractors work alongside naturopathic doctors, physiotherapists, RMTs, and acupuncturists to create thoughtful, coordinated treatment plans.

Because when your healthcare team communicates, you benefit.

More comprehensive care
Faster access to the right support
Better outcomes

We’re proud to be part of a model that puts patients first — together

Dr. Liza Grant, DC is Advanced Certified in Graston technique.

Sometimes, standard adjustments and stretches need a little extra help to get you back to 100%. That’s where the Graston Technique comes in!

The Graston Technique is an evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM).

Dr. Liza uses specialized, medical-grade stainless steel instruments to gently glide over your muscles. This allows her to effectively detect and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Simply put: it helps her find the "grit" in your muscles and smooth it out.

Why does Dr. Liza incorporate Graston into her patients care?

Accelerated Recovery: Speeds up rehabilitation and recovery time.

Reduced Inflammation: Decreases overall time of treatment.

Restores Mobility: Breaks down scar tissue and fascia restrictions to improve your range of motion.

Tackles Chronic Pain: Resolves chronic conditions that you might have thought were permanent (like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, or tech neck!).

Our approach is always collaborative and individualized—Graston is one of the many tools we use to help you move and feel your best.

Grove Team Highlight!
Carolyn Pigott, RMT

Carolyn Pigott, RMT, brings over 20 years of experience in therapeutic bodywork and somatic practice to The Grove Health & Wellness.

Carolyn has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2002 and has continued to deepen her work through:
• Clinical Somatic Practitioner (2010)
• Level 3 Somatic Yoga Teacher (2017)
• Thomas Hanna Essential Somatic Movement Instructor (2025)

Her approach blends hands-on care with gentle, intentional micro-movements to support clients in reconnecting with their body’s natural rhythms. Through this work, she helps to:
Ease pain

Restore balance within the body-mind

Carolyn’s work invites a slowing down… a return to breath… and a deeper listening to the language of the body. Her focus is on helping clients rediscover ease of movement and a renewed sense of control and connection within themselves.

In addition to one-to-one sessions at The Grove, Carolyn offers group and online classes throughout the Comox Valley.

Clinical guidance from Bone and Joint Canada points to per-population referral rates as a key benchmark. BCCA member data suggests chiropractors refer patients for imaging at about a 7–8% rate, consistent with guideline-based care.

In Saskatchewan, where chiropractors can directly refer for publicly funded X-rays, chiropractors account for only 4.75% of all referrals, despite representing nearly 9% of referring providers.

Chiropractors in British Columbia already refer patients for imaging through family physicians. Allowing direct referral would simply remove an extra step and improve patient access.

Let chiropractors refer directly for publicly funded diagnostic imaging.

Improving Access to Care in British Columbia

Patients in BC often face unnecessary delays when trying to access diagnostic imaging. Many must first visit a family physician simply to obtain a referral for an X-ray, even when their chiropractor has already assessed the condition and identified the need for imaging.

Evidence from the Comox Radiology Referral Pilot Study (2019–2020) demonstrated that allowing chiropractors to refer directly for imaging improves patient access and reduces healthcare costs.

Research and provincial estimates show that enabling direct referral could:

Save the healthcare system an estimated $4.1 million annually

Prevent 100,000+ unnecessary family doctor visits

Allow patients to begin treatment 33+ days sooner

Public support is strong. 90% of British Columbians support allowing chiropractors to refer directly for publicly funded X-rays.

This is a simple, evidence-informed change that could reduce delays, improve system efficiency, and help patients receive the care they need sooner.

Let chiropractors refer directly for publicly funded X-rays.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in our clinic, community and around the world.

Grove Team Highlight!
Michael Kono, RMT, DOMP.

Michael has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 1999 and completed a comprehensive program in Manual Osteopathy in 2018. His practice now focuses primarily on this gentle, hands-on approach to supporting the body.

Most people come to osteopathy because something hurts. Often they’ve heard from a friend that osteopathy helped them, but they’re not quite sure what it actually is.

Michael often reframes the question:

What is the body trying to communicate?

Symptoms are real, and they guide the session. But they are often the surface expression of deeper patterns within the body such as compensation from old injuries, habitual strain, digestive tension, or stress that has quietly settled into the tissues.

Manual osteopathy works by supporting the body as an integrated system including the musculoskeletal, visceral, circulatory, and nervous systems. Through subtle manual techniques, the goal is to help the body return toward its natural organization and balance.

When the system begins to reorganize, many people experience greater ease, improved movement, and a sense of overall clarity in their body.

If you’re curious about whether osteopathy might be right for you, Michael would be happy to connect.

Supporting Change. Deepening Care. Growing Together.

This week at The Grove Health & Wellness, we had the privilege of welcoming Executive Coach Cristine Saxon to share her insights with our practitioner team.

Cristine led a thoughtful session on how to better support shift and change with our patients, especially during seasons of transition, uncertainty, and growth. As integrative practitioners, we often walk alongside patients during meaningful life changes, and strengthening our skills in guiding that process is invaluable.

Cristine is the author of “Paddle Your Own Boat”, a powerful reflection on personal leadership and navigating life’s waters with clarity and intention. She generously shared key concepts from her book and left us with practical tools we can bring directly into patient care.

At The Grove, ongoing learning is part of our culture. When we invest in expanding our capacity as practitioners, our patients benefit.

Grateful for the wisdom, the conversation, and the reminder that growth is rarely linear, but always possible.

Snowy trails. Start lines. Big goals!

This weekend, our Grove practitioners traded clinic shoes for ski boots and trail runners.

Dr. Debbie Wright, DC competed in the Masters skate race in Whistler, showing us what dedication to movement really looks like.

Dr. Andrea Rayburn, ND hit the snowy trails in Cumberland for some adventure and to keep moving towards her next big run — because endurance isn’t just a mindset, it’s a practice (No matter what the weather )

At The Grove, we believe in living the medicine we talk about. Movement, resilience, community — on the trails, on the course, and in the clinic.

Here’s to strong bodies, snowy miles, and doing hard things.
