Our practitioners had a great staff inservice today on physiotherapy treatment for Cervicogenic Headaches from Physio Keltie with an extra special guest - Bernie 🐶 (Keltie’s new pup)!

We learned that there is strong evidence for physiotherapy interventions for headaches coming from the neck AND that our productivity goes down but happiness goes up with a puppy in the clinic :)

We are excited to welcome a new member to the Fresh Tracks Physio team this year - Naomi Cole! Originally from Ontario and a University of Toronto graduate, Naomi was drawn to the west coast having previously worked and lived in Whistler and Golden. After graduation she pursued extensive education in manual therapy and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT), recognized as the highest manual therapy certification in Canada. She is also a certified Gunn IMS therapist. Like the rest of our team, Naomi combines these skills with an active approach to rehabilitation and is passionate about helping clients maintain an active lifestyle.

Outside of the clinic you’ll find Naomi outdoors all year round - skiing, biking, hiking or out on the water - making the most of what the Comox Valley has to offer!

Happy Friday! Today's Fit Tip is from Coach Andrea who is a Physio at Freshtracks here in Courtenay! She says:

"Variety is key! It's great to find our favourite ways to move and be active, and it's also great to be aware of the types of activities we are most likely to avoid or do the least of. Our bodies can start to feel the effects of missing these! See if you can give yourself the positive challenge of a "backwards day" - whatever you usually do the most of, do the opposite! Always stretching? Try a couple of muscle activation exercises. Always working with weights? Try out some mobility. Always on exercise machines? Try a few bodyweight control movements. And then be proud of yourself - you tried something different, and different can feel difficult!"
