Tuesday 3:30pm Broken Squirrel Wellness Core26 (means 26 Hatha Yoga postures that are the core of this specific Yoga series from Bishnu Ghosh Lineage w/Tony Sanchez as the guiding Master Practitioner and Educator of Teachers. The Core26 postures ARE a beginner/or chosen practice done with empathy, compassion and props for individual needs with modifications from me, Julie Cook, your IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist.
Ultimately, your biomechanics are where we dive in to. This supports healing and sustainability over time. This is not about being bendy nor is it about a shape that looks a certain way. This is about functional movement patterns and whether yours are sustainable over time or whether pain is the feedback.
This Hatha practice with me as your guide is done with an awareness of pain(whispers/yellow lights) and all that may be tied into it with each individual. Instead of pain management, you will be guided into down regulation of your nervous system through simpler movements called Hatha Yoga postures.
While Core 26 is not 'simple movement' in nature, it lessens the action by not being in motion(Flow of any kind other then the internal breath, ease of stillness and of course your heartbeat).
The stillness held in a postures gives room for connection to the quality of your movement and the sustainability of the quality of your movement.
Hatha Yoga is a foundational branch of yoga focusing on aligning the body and mind through physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama-of which there are many), and meditation. The origin of yoga is from India. This part of yoga is know as “yoga of force” or “effort”.......Side note: That does not mean to force with intentional violence or aggression and that is a vast subject on many levels.
Your effort is designed to balance solar (ha) and lunar (tha) opposite energies we carry within us. Opposing forces govern the universe through physics and this applies in Hatha and all yoga practices too through our biology. Yes, yoga is science.
Modern Hatha Yoga classes are typically slower-paced, focusing on holding in stillness and breathing normally to build strength, flexibility, mobility, focus, balance and a big stress release. Additionally Hatha Yoga acts as preparation for deeper meditation and higher states of consciousness.
Hatha Yoga is slower and longer holds ideally for those who are beginners, those who have experienced deep emotional and physical traumas and for those with poor movements patterns and pain signals are high.
Hatha Yoga slows things down so you can connect to subtle sensation and simpler movement patterns that will help unlock layers of compensation that cause pain signals that further into dis-ease that then becomes disease.
1)Are you really listening to your body?
2)Is your mind/body connection truly online for you?
3)Have you ever tried yoga and its fallen flat?
4)Have you tried yoga and you found yourself hurt?
5)Have you tried yoga and it just didn't catch you?
Come visit with me. While it's not for everyone or all the time, maybe it was not the right fit for you at the time. Hatha Yoga can help rewire your brain and your body's communication back to you through sensation. Yes, there's far more to it than this but let’s start here for now.
