Hearing Loss Can Be Your Super Power 🦸🏻‍♀️
Loved Comedian and TV Host Stephen Colbert is deaf in his right ear 🦻

Stephen has had a full life, but not one without tragic events that forever shaped him in ways he never imagined.
When Stephen was young he had to have surgery to remove a tumour on his eardrum, this surgery left him deaf in his right ear.
This diagnoses also changed his future plans of becoming a marine biologist as he can’t go underwater. This moment turned out to be a blessing and changed his life for the better and he didn’t even know it.�Stephen’s diagnoses set his life on a new and unexpected path.

On top of his life changing diagnosis, Stephen tragically lost his brothers and dad to a plane crash in 1974. This event, yet again rocking his life and changing the person he was, while shaping the person he would now become.

No one knows what life will throw at them, but sometimes behind every hurdle is a super power that you didn’t know you had!��Hearing Loss doesn’t have to hinder your life if you face it, focus on your health, and join the HLC Avengers 🦸🏻‍♀️🦸🏼‍♂️

Say This Out Loud With Us“Hearing care is preventative care”We couldn’t have said it better , this is what we are eating, breathing and advocating for!! Untreated hearing loss:- Increases the risk of loneliness by 57%- Triples the risk of falls- Is linked to 30% of dementia casesIf those numbers make you pause, they should.We know the age to get a mammogram.We know the age to get a colonoscopy.So why isn’t there a standard age for a hearing screening?Why do we act like a mild hearing loss is “no big deal,” when research shows it’s already impacting brain 🧠 health, balance, and quality of life?This is my challenge to my colleagues:& Take this research and share it.Host lunch-and-learns. Have coffee talks with allied medical professionals. Educate proactively-before a patient’s quality of life declines.Because when patients are informed early, they can make confident choices for their healthspan-not just their lifespan.-

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the little things that make the Fall season so magical 🍂🎃🥧🪵

There’s something truly special about the crisp sound of crunching leaves beneath our feet.🍂 It’s a note of what we have to look forward to this season, and a reminder of season we’re leaving and the joy those once green leaves brought with shade and color!

The way falling leaves rustle and crackle as we walk through them can fill our hearts with gratitude.
It’s the world telling us that our hearing connects us to some of the most sentimental memories we have ❤️

And let’s not forget the cozy crackling of fires that keep us warm during chilly nights 🔥🪵

So let’s be grateful for the simple pleasures that surround us, reminding us that our hearing is so much more than just our ears 👂🏽🦻🏻and we need to take care of it. Don’t miss another fall, let’s start connecting our senses and take care of our ears!

🏌️‍♀️ Hit the driving range before your round or book a lesson in the Pro Shop. As you travel between the 18 holes, learn about the Ktunaxa history and culture, as each has a Ktunaxa name, meaning, and translation.

Maybe we’re feeling extra sentimental today, but wouldn’t you if this was in your backyard?
One thing you’ll never catch any of us doing is taking any of this beauty and community for granted.
Having clinics in BC and AB really feels like we struck gold or found the magic at the end of a rainbow 🌈
This has allowed us to get hands-on with amazing local organizations, charities, sports groups, and create lifelong relationships with other small businesses.

DEAF AWARENESS MONTH🤙🏽👂🏾
September marks Deaf Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shining a brighter light on advocacy, support and inclusivity. This is a time we can all work on understanding Deaf culture, and amplifying Deaf and hard of hearing related issues.
This is a time where we stand tall to promote inclusivity for individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Not just in day to day life, but in the work place as well. We encourage companies to provide inclusive work environments, public spaces and accessible personal services.
This month serves to showcase the rich variety of experiences within the Deaf community, it shows us all the necessity for accessibility and support, and encourages the exploration of Deaf history, identity, and sign languages such as American Sign Language (ASL).

Do You Feel Like This Sometimes⁉️
This is both a wake up call and a reminder 👂🏾🦻🏼
If you feel this way when you’re in a room with a lot of people talking or even a couple friends and you’re struggling to keep up. So you end up nodding along and smiling. It’s time, it’s time for a hearing health assessment, maybe a LOVELY ear cleaning 🧼.

This is also a reminder, when we’re in a large group. Advocate and speak up if everyone is trying to talk at once. It can be really tough for others to follow and take on all the information being shared.
