We are excited to welcome Janine Eidsness (Registered Physiotherapist) to our team. Janine grew up in Cranbrook and completed a Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Alberta in 2007 after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Since graduation, she has completed many courses/certifications and she has a special interest in manual therapy, dry needling/acupuncture, exercise therapy, post-op rehabilitation, paediatrics, shockwave therapy, and other pain relieving modalities. Her physiotherapy tips are as follows:
-Stay active throughout the day; movement is medicine. Avoid sitting for too long and take frequent movement breaks throughout the day. Choose an activity that you enjoy such as walking, running, hiking, skiing, group fitness, etc. Adults need at least 30-60 minutes of moderate intensity activity throughout the day.
- School aged-kids (ages 5-18 years) need at least 60 minutes of moderate physical activity throughout the day. A few strategies to get kids moving is by having them walk, scooter or bike ride to school, participate in extra-curricular activities, and reduce screen time.
Preschoolers (ages 3-5 years) need at least 180 minutes of moderate-intensity activity throughout the day. Activities for preschoolers include playground play, bike riding, running, hiking, and reducing screen time.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.
If you'd like to book an appointment with Janine, please call Kootenay Health Centre at 250-426-5228 or book an assessment online at www.kootenayhealthcentre.ca. We look forward to meeting you.
