A Boil Water Notice is in full effect for all water customers on the City of Cranbrook’s water system until further notice.
Overnight Monday, into Tuesday morning (November 18, 2025), a slug of low chlorinated water followed by a slug of high turbidity water entered the water system. Public Works crews were working on screen cleaning at the Phillips Reservoir overnight. Some system flushing has occurred to try to remove as much of this untreated water as possible, but the City is not able to guarantee that all of it has been cleared.
Both the Interior Health Authority (IHA) and the City of Cranbrook recommend that everyone especially children, the elderly, those with weakened immune systems, or anyone who wishes additional protection use boiled water or a safe alternative for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing teeth. Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
We will continue to monitor water quality closely and provide regular updates until such time as all water tests come back clear and this advisory may be lifted.
