Snow Returning to Southern Alberta!? 😮
For the past few days, we've been once again watching the possibility of a system that could finally bring snow back to Southern Alberta starting late Monday and continuing through Tuesday.
As we get closer to the event, it's looking like it might actually materialize and we could see widespread snowfall across a large part of Southern and Central Alberta. For some areas, this could be the first significant snowfall of the year!
While it's still a little too early for us to release a forecast, Environment Canada has issued their first outlook for this upcoming event. This outlook shows 5-15cm of snow for Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat. Meanwhile, there is an area of 15-25cm to the east of the QE2 and Highway 63, which includes Lloydminster.
We are still a couple of days away from the beginning of this snowfall and these numbers could change. We will continue to keep an eye on the development of this system and will have a preliminary forecast Sunday evening.
We know that many people aren't too excited about the return of snow, but the area is in desperate need of moisture ahead of spring and summer so we'll take what we can get.
