What does it feel like to become fully present in your body? Where you shut down your awareness of surrounding noises, energies, and environments? Where you become fully immersed in yourself.

Too often in life, we are living in the body but not truly taking the time to be present. To sink into a posture and allow ourselves to open up and truly feel what our body has to say. We go through life existing and hustling here and there; and not really ever stopping until the end of the day when you lay down and your body sighs a relief.

Your body will always tell you what is happening, and it is truly divine. Our body systems are here to help us. To help us discover what is happening physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually in our lives.

Our bodies lie on meridian systems/chakras. When an organ/chakra is hyperfunctioning/hypofunctioning, it sends out something like an electrical charge to different nerves in the body to lessen the impact. You can imagine the same organ can only do this so many times before it starts having an effect on your health. Our emotions/traumas unhealed lead the way to health issues in the body. It is your job to take care of your body. It is your temple, and that means keeping it clean, eating well, moving your body, dealing with your triggers and emotions, and letting go of old belief systems that aren’t serving you.

When you choose to become more present in your body and listen to what it is telling you, you offer yourself the greatest gift. You offer yourself the opportunity to grow, to learn, and to release what isn’t serving you. You learn how to slow down, breathe, and reset your nervous system. You learn how to forgive yourself and others. You learn how to love. And loving is what we came here to do.

If you are interested or resonate, come out for some yoga, and let's explore the eightfold path together.

Stay in your own lane! Stop judging yourself. Stop comparing. Stop competing with everyone else. Your only competition was you, yesterday.

It's so easy to become wrapped up in self judgment and thinking you can't do something because someone else is doing the same thing. I am here to tell you that you are the only you. You are unique, authentic and shine differently than anyone else.

We came to the earth a ten and we did not come to compare ourselves to others and dim our lights. We came to light it up and shine bright in our own lane!

Keep your head down. Pursue what makes you feel happy, what inspires you and what drives your passion. Find out who you are on purpose!

No expectations. No assumptions. (Another form of non-attachment)

I had gone to see my osteopath quite some time ago and he always reveals so much to me. I am a big believer that our emotions affect what is happening with our body. If we are holding trauma and wounds and we choose to keep repeating lessons, it will eventually show up in our bodies! Our bodies are incredible and they will always keep the score.

I can’t remember exactly what part of my body was showing him what was going on in my body, but if you have ever been to an osteopath you know that it can be quite intense when they are doing the work. He told me that the greatest path to suffering is expectations and assumptions. The story he told me along with this statement went as such, “If you were sailing on an ocean in a sailboat, you might have someone who joins you that seems very calm, collected and confident. They may tell you that they can’t wait to sail with you. They are excited and they are sure they could handle any situation on the water. They go out with you and they seem fine. Then an unexpected tempest blows in, the waves get rough and it changes the dynamic of sailing. The once calm person is now freaking out. They are throwing a fit and maybe even screaming and yelling. Needless to say they are not handling it well. Jump forward, you have someone else come sailing with you on a different day. They tell you they are nervous, they don’t feel confident about sailing but they are willing to try. You may feel unsure about them because of their emotions and lack of confidence. They come sailing anyway, and again a tempest moves in. Instead of freaking out, they remain calm and steady and they handle it very well. You would have made the assumption on how each person would handle themselves based on what they presented, which isn’t always true. Another reference is about a kettle. You can not always see what is inside the kettle but be sure when the liquid reaches a boiling point whatever is on the inside will spill out.

My osteopath told me that I needed to work on my assumptions. He told me I have a big heart and that I shouldn’t assume that everyone I meet is the same as me. Everyone is different. He said maybe be more cautious when first meeting people. Give it time, let them show you who they are when things are stormy. Hold no expectations on people. I have found that you will only disappoint yourself if you choose to hold expectations on others. We are not meant to hold expectations, they will create suffering in the form of complaining or resentment. These lower vibrational emotions perpetuate our own stories and beliefs.

Going forward choose to see where you might be holding expectations or assumptions and choose love.

Satya (truthfulness) honesty in word, thought and deed!

What does truthfulness mean to you? Is it your perspective? Your opinion? Your thoughts? Or is it something greater because we truly are not any of those things. We are the soul that exists, has experiences and interprets them.

Truthfulness can be a hard thing especially when it comes from that deep and authentic place in the soul. Sometimes we don't want to be truthful due to being fearful of what others will think. The reality is that not everyone is for you and you are not for everyone. If you speak from your heart and a place of your truth the people that are for you will find you!

Understanding that your truth may not be someone else's truth and it is not your job to change their mind. Live life with compassion, grace, intention with authenticity and no attachment to labels. Learn how to let go of what isn't serving you and love others deeply. Satya is honoring how your soul moves to grow, love and journey through life. Have integrity and authenticity for who you truly are. You are a beautiful soul 💛 ✨️ 🪷

Ahimsa = Non-violence

In a world so often caught up with how can you push harder, how can you work harder to gain more or how can you give 100 % and then give everything else you have? I love how one of the authors of Teaching Yoga Beyond the Poses says, “How can you do less and still be successful?”

Society has programmed us to feel like we need to hustle everywhere. That unless we are moving a million miles a minute we aren’t being successful or achieving enough. In my opinion that is a dangerous path to walk. We need time and space to dream, to create, to sit and be present. The seasons all change and we are connected to them and should take note of what nature is doing. There is a time to move and get things done and there is time to sit and create from our hearts.

It is time that we learn what it feels like to tap into our bodies, to really feel them not just exist in them. Usually we do this too late, once the body has taken on so much emotional trauma that it starts showing up in the body and we are left holding what feels like the broken pieces. The challenge becomes how can you sit and hold space for your body. To become aware, to feel sensations that are happening or maybe even micro movements in the body that only stillness brings to the forefront of our conscious.

As I am teaching yoga I am really seeing the benefit of intentional breath. Of moving into a quiet space of the inhale and the exhale. Of being gentle with ourselves and others. Of being responsive with care and not reactive.

If you would like to join me in this practice just reach out and send me an email : indigooasisyogastudio@gmail.com.

I look forward to seeing you on the mat 💖🧘‍♀️

Had my first two yoga classes yesterday in the studio. I am beyond grateful for the people that showed up for themselves and the practice. Thank you for your time and energy! I still have spaces available this week if you’re interested in coming out and perhaps after I will take you for a tour of the land!

This season is gearing up for me between maintaining the gardens, creating new gardening spaces, the air bnb, the yoga space and completing a couple more building projects. I have endeavored on a journey within myself in how to find balance and a sometimes slow but steady pace instead of ‘working myself to the bone’. I have been unlearning the hustle culture. The culture that says if you aren’t doing something you are lazy. The culture that pushes ‘no pain, no gain’. I am learning to be gentler with myself. That not everything is about how fast you move or how strong you think you are. Sometimes it is about pulling back and giving ourselves space to meet ourselves where we are at. That is called self love and your main job on this earth is to love yourself. And when you love yourself that love cannot help but to spill out onto others. We came here to love and be of service to each other. Create a community and deep connection.

Come join me for some yoga or even a tour through the gardens where I can show you the meditation platform we are building this year; or the wood burning sauna that will be completed by the fall of this year!

I’d love to have you.
