Mountainwest Livestock & Supplies

Mountainwest Livestock & Supplies Clipper blade sharpener service. As a retired from full time farmer, I could not leave the farm community.

Livestock supplies including CCIA ear tags, feeds, milk replacers, minerals, horse feeds, vet supplies, and Weaver products both basic and livestock show supplies. I always had an interest in retail, but while being a dairy farmer there was no room for that venture, until two years ago when, a year after retiring from dairy farming, I bought a business model and started my own retail business. It

started out with supplying show supplies to the Agriculture showing community. Then as soon as I had started Mountainwest Livestock & supplies in August of 2019, 8 months later the whole country shut-down. During that time of all the livestock shows being shut down combined with the local feed store shutting down, this gave me an opportunity to perform a 180 degree spin and open up a feed store to meet the current demand for both the big and small livestock producers and hobby farmers of the Creston Valley and farther. With my history and experience of understanding the farming community, having an understanding of different livestock feed and care demands, gives me a good understanding of what producers need for their farms. I aim to provide high quality feed, manufactured by Sure Crop Feeds (whom we used and relied on for our farm), supplements and necessary equipment for the day to day uses, specialty items, horse tack, vet supplies, boots, links to professionals, agriculture news papers and much more! so I am doing the next best thing and that is providing an excellent source of healthy feed from a company that we used when full time farming so I know the quality and balanced nutrition that comes out of the mill. Being able to provide the necessities that are required for good animal care and husbandry has always been of my utmost importance as a healthy animal is a happy animal. Having information available to producers in the forms of agriculture newspapers, download links to information sites I feel is crucial for livestock owners

A draft update to the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle is now open for public comment until June 12. The code, one of 14 animal care codes developed and maintained by the National Farm Animal Care Council, is undergoing a routine 10-year review. "Your feedback will help shape the industry's guide to cattle welfare for the next decade," says Canadian Cattle Association policy manager Jessica Radau, urging producers to weigh in.
