I Be Jammin

I Be Jammin All of my jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys and pickles are small batch made. I use as much locally and home grown produce in my recipes as possible.

I have had my products pH tested and approved by Vancouver Island Health Authority. I've been making jams, jellies, chutneys and pickles for the better part of 55 years, starting as a little girl of 7, in the kitchen with my Grandma. One of the most exciting things about my products is that they are prepared by MY hand with love and locally grown fruits, berries and vegetables. I fully support our

local farmers! Native to Vancouver Island are the Salal berries and Oregon Grape which I use. I do also grow some produce in my very own garden! Tay berries are extremely tasty and unusual. Fine hand zesting the Marmalade, now there's a feat of endurance! "... made with real ingredients, no artificial stuff or fillers." My small batch productions consist of some of my Granma's, Mom's and my traditional recipes as well as my signature flare for combining different fruits, berries and vegetables. These combinations come from my playful side to incorporate new flavours. I challenge my customers to tantalize their taste buds! All my products have been PH tested at MB Labs in Sidney Vancouver Island http://www.mblabs.com/
I have been selling my homemade products for 20 years, 10 of those in the Cowichan Valley and entering the Cowichan Exhibition over the last 5 years has won me numerous first prize ribbons. Selling at the Duncan and surrounding markets has given me exposure to people from many countries. I continue to fill online orders from as far away as Rome, Chad Africa, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Singapore, US and across Canada, too many to list! Special Orders are obtained by request and have included such as:
β€’ Wedding Gifts for guest to take after the reception. A home-made jar of "I Be Jammin" preserves includes the bride and grooms name and wedding date on the label.
β€’ The Integral Ecology Group http://www.integralecologygroup.com/ workshop completion gift of a small jar of "I Be Jammin" preserves.

Good morning eveyone...Today looks like a good day to make Basil Jelly and my basil really does need picking. It smells like summer and sunshine in a jar! I have a customer who puts it on his peas. It's also nice as a glaze on a savory cheesecake or a bagel with cream cheese, cucumbers and sprouts. Use your imagination.
I'll be bringing my Drunken Dills to market tomorrow...if you would like any let me know because I only pack so many of them for a market and I wouldn't want you disappointed if they were all gone. So, Kathy and I will see you tomorrow...in the cool tent where there's lots of laughter happening. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Good afternoon everyone...I feel just like this woman in the picture at the moment...6 arms and still not enough to get all things done. I'm sorry to say Kathy and I won't be at the Cedar Market tomorrow. Someone put an order in for 156 jars of pickles, BC apricots and peaches have arrived, I'm still picking currants and my garden is screaming to have a drink. I'm trying to get my special jam orders made and I must't forget to eat. Sorry to sound like a whiner but if the shoe fits...right? If you need anything by all means drop by...I'll be in the kitchen. πŸ™‚Take good care and stay cool.

I just love this photo!

Good morning everyone...whew it's going to be a hot one today and tomorrow. I'm ever so grateful my tent is in the shade and if you want to cool down just drop in. Today though I have to cook which doesn't please me at all. My "Hot Day" cooking uniform consists of very few clothes with an apron covering the bare bits!! God help me if a customer drops in unexpectedly...a great shout of "Wait a minute" will be heard.πŸ™‚
If you would like anything tomorrow please give me a shout to ensure you'll get what you want. Stay cool and see you tomorrow.

Hello everyone...I'm up to my armpits in fruit! I picked up 6 flats of raspberries and 6 flats of tayberries this week...I can never grow enough tayberries. The black and red currants are ready, the lavender has been picked and I found apricots and black plums for a good price. Got 3 orders shipped to northern Alberta, Milton, Ontario and Nanaimo...and managed to get some jam made. I have helping hands from my neighbor pulling the ends off of the Tayberries thank goodness. Tomorrow at the Cedar Market Kathy and I will be pulling the ends off of currants. Good thing I love what I do. It's amazing how a jar of jam can make people happy.πŸ™‚
So, hope to see you tomorrow.

Good morning everyone...it turned into a beautiful day! My currant bushes, tayberries and logans have done very well this year and I have been busy picking...I still have to buy way more tayberries though. It's so popular! I have a friend/ customer in Westville Nova Scotia that has to have a case shipped out to her every year.πŸ™‚
It's the Canada Day weekend already! I hope you have some fun things to do and even get to the Cedar Market tomorrow. Kathy and I will be there having lots of laughs as usual...come and join us.
