Come join us in Cumberland on Friday, April 24th from 6:30–8:30pm for an Intro to Expressive Arts Therapy workshop. This session’s theme is “Me Right Now”—a chance to check in and explore what’s present for you.

In this “Me Right Now” workshop, you’re invited to gently check in with yourself and explore what’s going on for you in the present moment—no pressure, no expectations and what you discover or what comes up, is welcome here. Through simple creative activities like drawing, movement, writing, or sound, you can express whatever feels true for you, even if you don’t have the words for it.

Participants often come away with a better sense of their emotions, feel more grounded and connected, or discover something new about themselves. It can also be a chance to release stress, connect with your body, and practice being kinder to yourself.

No art experience is needed—just bring yourself as you are. This is a space to slow down, be curious, and reconnect with you. Participants are met where they are at- and all emotions and states of being are welcome in this space.

Facilitated by anti-oppressive, trauma informed Expressive Arts Therapist, Holly Keen Goldes (they/them). 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community are welcome here.

Group size is capped at 12. Though group sizes have generally been much smaller.

Accessibility: there are two small steps into the space.

To register see workshops link in Bio.

so honoured to be helping to hold this space for q***r families, parents and kids in the Comox Valley! It feels really meaningful to be creating more inclusive spaces locally, which is something that I’ve felt is deeply important to my personal values in moving back to an area that did not have much diversity and inclusion growing up here.

Our next seasonal q***r families meet-up is coming up on Sunday, May 3rd 10am-12pm! We also have our ongoing weekly drop-ins on Tuesdays 3:30-5:00pm.

Weekly Drop-Ins:
A weekly drop-in space for q***r parents and caregivers of all genders to bring their children aged 0-5 (older siblings welcome) for play, connection, and mutual support.

Spring Seasonal Family Meet-Up:
This will be a welcoming gathering for 2SLGBTQ+ families — including families with q***r and trans parents, caregivers, and/or kids of all ages — to play, make some art, grab a snack, and connect with their community. Sensory-friendly break room available, wheelchair accessible.
Please RSVP to [q***rfamilies@ccssociety.org](mailto:q***rfamilies@ccssociety.org) and we will send you all the details!

Self compassion can be hard. It’s a tumultuous world out there right now. It’s so much easier to be hard or critical on ourselves. A great way to help heal community is to begin with the self. What are things that fill our glasses and offer replenishing? What resources do we have or can we develop within ourselves to continue to have strength and resilience? In what ways can boundaries help to maintain safe and caring relationships both to self and others?

In this workshop we will be learning how to be self advocates, learning grounding and resourcing tools to help us begin and continue to offer ourselves the love and care that is needed to be healthy and well.

We will be exploring these themes all through the expressive arts including movement, guided meditation, writing, drawing & painting, group sharing, and sound. No experience is needed.

This is a 4 week series where we will be developing skills over time to build on.

Drop ins for one session are allowed $50, but pre-registration online and filling out consent forms ahead of time is required.

Group size is capped at 12 people.
Facilitated by a trauma informed certified expressive arts therapist.

More info and registration in bio, under group workshops.

I tried something new today. I took a pottery class .pottery. Some reflections on the process of struggling with something new in creation. How can we learn and grow resiliency through creation? What lessons can we learn? How can they translate to our day to day lives?
