Happy Springtime, everyone! My name is Erica, and I’m so grateful to be part of the team at Cumby Massage in Cumberland. I am delighted to be adding the modality of acupuncture to this wonderful home clinic on Kendal Ave. alongside two experienced massage therapists and beautiful humans, Tim and Heather.
As we shift into a new season, acupuncture can be a lovely way to help bring balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. We are shedding our winter skins, stretching into our new forms, and welcoming renewed vitality and new growth. Acupuncture (and adjunct therapies like cupping, moxa, and gua sha - more on those later!) can help by removing blockages, releasing stagnation, and promoting free flow within the channels of the body, enabling us to experience shifts, however subtle, toward a more vitalized version of ourselves. From this place, we are better equipped to flow with the changes in our environments - from the changes in weather to the changes in our own bodies; from the changes in our beliefs to the changing moods of our kids! Change is inevitable, whether we are embracing it or not! And as we move through Life, Life moves through us - we are woven into relationship with the ecosystems we inhabit (and who inhabit us!)
Chinese medicine and the Daoist philosophy which underpins this ancient medical practice help us to orient in this way - we are inherently a part of the fabric of this universe as we strive toward unity within ourselves and our environments. And the meridians (aka the channels) within our bodies are intelligently designed to be able to harmonize the energies within and without. So, I invite you to come try this ancient modality out for yourself. I look forward to meeting you at Cumby Massage.
