📢 RE: Proposed U.S. pharmaceutical tariffs
💊 In response to President Trump’s announcement about possible 200% tariffs on pharmaceuticals, we want to reassure Canadians that there is no immediate impact on our drug supply.
🧾 At this stage, the tariffs are not official policy — there's been no formal announcement or detailed plan. Based on yesterday's statement, implementation would be at least 12 to 18 months away. There’s no reason for Canadians to panic or rush to the
🌍 That said, these proposed tariffs could affect the broader global pharmaceutical supply chain, and any disruption may have downstream effects on Canada over time.
🍁 We're encouraged that Canada hasn’t included pharmaceuticals on any retaliatory tariff lists — and we strongly support keeping it that way.
CPhA is working closely with federal officials to help ensure our drug supply remains protected and that Canadian patients continue to have reliable access to the medications they need.
