Today is International Women’s Day.
A day to recognize the strength, influence, and legacy of women everywhere. Not only the women whose names made it into history books, but the many more whose impact lives in the people, families, and communities they shaped… and continue to shape today.
Some women changed the world with speeches and protests.
Others changed it quietly in living rooms, classrooms, kitchens, and community halls.
Both matter.
Because history isn’t only shaped by those who hold titles or stand behind microphones.
It is built every day by the women who show up now and by the girls who will carry that strength into the future.
The ones who raise strong children.
The ones who keep communities connected.
The ones who offer wisdom, support, courage, and steady presence when it’s needed most.
Mothers.
Sisters.
Daughters.
Grandmothers.
The word woman is not a small word.
It carries strength, sacrifice, creativity, courage, wisdom, humour, resilience, and the remarkable ability to rebuild when life knocks everything sideways.
And yet, even now, society still tries to shrink that word.
Reducing women to appearance.
To youth.
To body shape.
To whether we meet the latest version of what beauty is supposed to look like.
But women were never meant to be measured that way.
A woman’s worth lives in what she builds.
What she protects.
What she nurtures.
What she teaches.
And the way she rises again and again, even when the path isn’t easy.
Women have shaped the past, are shaping the present, and will continue shaping the future.
Quietly.
Powerfully.
Relentlessly.
And no trend, opinion, or narrow definition will ever be big enough to hold everything the word woman truly means. Let’s keep our voices strong, our hearts soft, and never forget the quiet power carried in the word woman!!
