Warning signs are reportedly in the works for some Nova Scotia beaches just as the first tracked Great White Shark of 2024 appeared off Yarmouth, N.S. today.

In 2021 a 22-year-old woman was bitten by a reported shark off Margaree Island in Cape Breton. RCMP said she was airlifted to hospital. In 2023 a dog was reportedly killed by a shark near Port Medway, N.S. after entering the water.

According to a study, the white shark population is surging off Eastern Canada and Eastern United States.
