Wally and his owner Penny were officially welcomed aboard by the crew as the ship’s therapy dog and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

We’re proud to see our Therapy Dog Program making waves and reaching new heights across Nova Scotia and PEI. Here's to calm seas, wagging tails, and making meaningful connections wherever we go! 💙

Meet Emily and her sweet pup, Tilly! 🐶

This caring pair just completed their supervised Therapy Dog visit at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Halifax, spreading joy, comfort, and plenty of tail wags. We’re so excited to see Emily and Tilly begin their journey as part of our St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog team. Great things (and furry cuddles!) are ahead!

What would you do?

Out here on the East Coast, there’s nothing like a sunny day on the water—kayaks gliding, sun sparkling off the waves, and good times flowing. But sometimes nature throws us a curveball.

You’re enjoying a paddle near the shore when your friend suddenly grabs their chest and says they’re feeling dizzy and short of breath. They look pale and are clearly not themselves.

You’re a few minutes from land, and help isn’t close by.

The Halifax Buskers Festival is in full swing, and we’re thrilled to share that our incredible SJA Volunteer Medical Responders will be on-site, providing first aid coverage to ensure everyone stays safe and healthy while enjoying the festivities!

It's the first day (Wednesday, July 30) of the 2025 Busker Festival!

The shows get started at 5pm today, with the last shows of the day at 10pm. You can find the schedule at www.buskers.ca/day1.html.

Glow Fun Land opens at 1pm at The Sands at Salter in Halifax, and East Coast Amusements get started at 3pm at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth.

Online voting for the 2025 People's Choice Award presented by The Hollis Halifax opens today at 5:30pm at www.buskers.ca.

Say hello to Geno and her four-legged partner, Nissel de Molitor, as they completed their very first official Therapy Dog visit at The Roseway Hospital in Shelburne! 🐾💚

Together, this dynamic duo brought comfort, smiles, and a whole lot of tail wags to patients and staff alike. We’re so proud to welcome them to our therapy dog program. Here’s to many more heartwarming visits ahead!

Paws and positivity in New Glasgow! 🐾

Smokey and his handler Mary Jean MacDonald recently completed their first official Therapy Dog visit at the Blood Donor Clinic in New Glasgow! With calming cuddles and comforting company, this duo helped make the donation experience a little brighter for everyone. We’re so proud to welcome Smokey and Mary Jean to the SJA Therapy Dog team!

We’re sharing real-life first aid scenarios inspired by adventures right here on the East Coast—where our rugged trails and salty air make for the best outdoor fun (and the occasional bump or bruise).

Picture this: You’re out on a coastal hike with with a friend. The waves crashing below and gulls flying overhead when they take a tumble and land funny on their ankle. It’s swollen, sore, and they’re limping, but still able to walk.
