OK this post is a long time coming so bear with me :)

This year has been a fu**in JOURNEY! All of fiends has been, but truly nothing is as humbling, frustrating, patience cultivating and heart aching than going through healing. Whatever the healing is, why ever it may have come about.

The truth is that I started this business out of a place of ego, and I continue it from that place as well right now. When you are unbecoming - regaining energy again - you essentially become the last tangible thing you were. A community, a shop, a spiritual service provider…. It all gets melted down and I have found myself clutching onto the last pieces of solid “something” as these months have passed.

The truth is, though (a truth I’ve recognized many times) that fiends did what it was here to do, which is build community.

Now I wonder about the difference between MY work as Forest, and the work of fiends. The only thing I can still see is the name, a brand.

And I honestly don’t need a brand to feel worthy of doing my work anymore. I feel so deeply grateful for fiends and the many roles it’s played. And I also know that trying to fix or figure it out is actually the last distraction keeping me from actually doing my work which is to create and connect with YOU.

So, as of now, fiends will remain a community space but no longer be a business endeavour. I will operate my business and services under and whatever else I continue to create, and fiends will be for those spiritual and mystic and seeking to connect and know we are here.

If you know me well, you know I rearranged at least one thing a day. Mostly recently we moved the studio/office to the basement which has a private entrance and lots of space for all the activities. There are actually more windows down here than the ~first home office~ and direct access to some lovely outdoor nooks that are designed to feel safe and ethereal for things like the Akashic records!

There is a tender lil outside space with a set up for reading in the sunshine on really nice days surrounded by herbs and candles and precious lil details, there is an office area, a little creative space with a sink and really just so much room for connection and creativity and community.

Things continue to shift and evolve; just as we do. This us your permission to keep growing and changing and being even when it feels like you can barely remember where you started and can’t seem to catch a glimpse of where you’re going.

The reminder is to be right here, right now, in your current needs and wants and desires and know even if they aren’t forever they are a portal into understanding yourself.

Tbh it’s really easy to get caught up in things like hours worked and worth as a creator and whatever the f**k but really, when it comes down to it, I would do what I do for free if all my needs were met. And I want you to feel that way about what you do too, which is one of the reasons this is a profound experience.

The Artists Way is a transformation. It is a spell, a ritual, truly a portal into a truer version of ourselves and our lives.

All I ask, truly, is that if you sign up you are devoted. It doesn’t mean it’ll be perfect or easy, but it means you recognize that by being here that you are an essential part of the experience and that you treat yourself as such.

This is sort of what my inner dialogue has felt like the past little while, and the “venturing out” is actually more of a venturing into myself as I feel I’ve been seated in a little cabin puttering around on the edge of out there and in here for a few months now.

Honestly, I feel so scared to launch the new collection.

These past few months have totally dissolved all of the things I felt I was working towards; and while it showed me in so many ways my truest intentions succeeded and were met, it still didn’t make parts of the unbecoming less painful or tedious.

Right now I honestly don’t know what fiends is or is becoming. All I know is that it has been a great gift, a wonderful ambition, a notion that has kept me afloat amongst these very tumultuous years as well as sometimes felt like a waterlogged thing to drag to shore with me.

I’ve been working a lot on myself; of feeling proud of what I’ve done personally and professionally. Humbled by what I’m not and curious about what else I don’t really know. I’ve been opened to more possibility within myself and what I actually want to feel, not just what I offer. I want what motivates me to be aligned with what I’m doing. I want to move with more patience and less urgency.

Unbecoming is totally goopy and you become whatever the last thing you really see is. It’s a kind of slow, moving backwards that I feel a mercury retrograde well represents and when you actually surrender there is this realization that it is all totally different and that the primal energy of it all exists and can become anything once again.

I feel like I’ve been rebirthing not just fiends, but myself. I actually feel more as if I’ve been reabsorbing fiends back into Forest which is it’s own unique grieving as much as it is becoming.

So, I’m no longer making any commitments about what will always be here or what it will always look like; instead I offer you the tenderness of having a place to watch the perpetual blooming procession of a thing.

Thanks for being here, or also not being here too if that’s what is needed, and I hope you can give yourself the grace of becoming once again 💖
