When I took my Jikiden Reiki courses we would always start our meeting with a repetition of three of the Gokai.
We were also encouraged to place a banner of the Gokai somewhere we would see it and that we start our day with saying the Gokai.
It's admittedly, a practice I have let kind of disappear from my daily life, but I am going to bring it back.
I can recall a time when I was practicing the saying of the Gokai every day. I had a situation in my life where someone I cared for very deeply had been hurt and I was very worried for them. I decided to take a bath and try to meditate and relax to calm myself. As I laid there in the bath I kept getting the message "Shin Pai Suna" I unfortunately couldn't remember the translation, but it kept coming through and I kept repeating it in my mind. I managed to calm down and felt quite at peace... when I got out of the bath and looked it up I kinda chuckled when I saw it meant "Do Not Worry"
I added the "Live in the Now". It can be taken different ways though like "Just for Today:" followed by the lists of do not & do. Also, a reminder that each new day is a fresh start to try again.
