Stephanie Attwater

Stephanie Attwater Stephanie is a Rehabilitation Specialist My adventures in health and wellness have led me down all sorts of paths. I don't sell pills or concoctions.

I studied molecular biology and biotechnology as my undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa and spent time as a government researcher, special projects officer, and chemistry analyst before switching careers to study health and rehabilitation. I am currently completing PhD’s in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Natural Medicine, and Osteopathic Clinical Rehabilitation, as well as a Doctor of Science in Clinical Nutrition. I have a Master's in Rehabilitation Science from the University of British Columbia as well as Diplomas in Osteopathic Manual Practice and Registered Massage Therapy. I am a certified Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Practitioner, Life Coach, Nutrition Consultant, and Dietary Supplements Advisor. I have even done extensive training in all things 'woo woo' and am a Reiki Master/Teacher, have a certification in energy management, mindfulness and meditation training, somatosensory healing modalities, and even spiritual counseling! I bring all of these tools into my rehabilitation practice, where my breadth of experience allows me to help as many people as possible, no matter your beliefs. I understand that, especially these days, wading through health and wellness information can be confusing and overwhelming. I can help you navigate the many different specialties and modalities vying for your attention with an evidence-based approach that won't compromise your health. I'm not trying to get you to buy a product. I just want to arm you with the information you need to safely navigate the wellness world. I am an active member of the health services community and love to volunteer my time at various sporting events, fundraisers and charities. Two such services I was particularly proud to be involved with were volunteering at the Dartmouth General Hospital providing free massage therapy services to the nursing staff, as well as at the Marguerite Center, an organization built to assist women recovering from addictions and abuse. I was also part of the official therapy team for the Halifax Rainmen 2012-2013 season, and had the opportunity to treat the Tragically Hip before their Halifax performance. I have training in prenatal massage and special interest in treating chronic pain conditions. I believe in a multi-modal, patient-focused practice where the goal is to help patients become their best selves through individualized and targeted therapies.
