A few small things
that can bring a little ease
to the week:

an evening or morning
warm enough
to begin or end the day outside

stopping at the thrift shop
or greenhouse
when there is a little space
in the day

the sound of birds
coming through open windows

the smell of fresh bread
while passing by the bakery

the first tea or coffee
of the morning

the color of the sky
as the sun starts to set

the gentleness
of a day
that isn’t rushed

Nothing grand.

Just small places
where life feels
a little softer.

What would you add?

It was one of those spring days
that still felt more like early April than late May.

Grey.
Rainy.
Cool enough to keep your coat on.

And then the greenhouse—

bright, warm,
and full of color.

Rows of flowers
opening into the day
as if they had already decided
summer was coming.

There is something about stepping into a place like that
after a stretch of cloud and damp and chill.

An instant lift.
A small return.
A reminder that sometimes
the season arrives first
as color,
warmth,
and the feeling of something bright
meeting you where you are.

New journal entry: When Later Keeps Moving

This piece began with something I think many of us know well.

That quiet habit of saying,
“I’ll take care of myself later.”
“I’ll rest when things settle.”
“I’ll make time when there is more space.”

But sometimes later keeps moving.

The day fills.
The week turns over.
Someone needs something.
Something else becomes urgent.
And the care we meant to offer ourselves keeps getting placed gently, almost invisibly, further down the road.

This journal entry is a reflection on caregiving, self-care, and the tender realization that waiting for the perfect time to care for ourselves may mean we keep waiting.

Maybe care does not always have to be a large, uninterrupted thing.

Maybe it can begin smaller than that.

A pause.
A breath.
A walk.
A hand on the heart.
A few honest minutes of listening inward.

A quiet question to carry:
Where has “later” been quietly moving in your own life?

By evening,
the house begins to show
the small evidence of the day.

A cup moved
from one place to another.
A bed left unmade.
Light resting
on the edge of a chair.
A door left slightly open.

There is something comforting
about these ordinary traces.

Proof that a day
does not have to be polished
to hold meaning.

It only has to be lived.

Just a gentle reminder — the yoga survey will be closing soon.

If you’ve been meaning to share your thoughts, there is still a little time.

The survey only takes a few minutes and will help shape future offerings, including class length, timing, style, and the kind of support people are hoping to receive from a yoga practice.

Whether you’ve attended before, are curious about coming, or simply have a sense of what would feel helpful, I’d be grateful to hear from you.

Link is in the pinned post at the top of the page.

Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to respond.

The door has been opening more often lately.

To warmer air.
To longer evenings.
To the sound of birds
finding their way back
into the edges of the day.

There is something about this time of year
that asks us to pay attention
to small returns.

The light coming in differently.
The coat left unbuttoned.
The first green things
working quietly beneath the surface.

Nothing all at once.
Just life
beginning to make its way back in.

A gentle reminder that the yoga survey is still open for a little while longer.

If you have a few minutes, I’d love to hear your thoughts on future yoga offerings — things like class length, timing, style, and what kind of support you may be looking for in a class.

Whether you’ve attended before, are curious about coming, or simply have a sense of what would feel helpful, your feedback is welcome.
The survey will close next week.

By this time of year,
the light starts staying a little longer.

It gathers in corners
that felt dim all winter.
It stretches across the floor.
It lingers on the ordinary things—
a chair,
a doorway,
a plant leaning toward the window.

Nothing has fully arrived yet.
Not all at once.

But there are small signs
that something is shifting.

A little more light.
A little more room.
A quiet return
we can almost feel
before we have words for it.

A small reminder that the yoga survey is still open.

If you have a few minutes, I’d be grateful for your thoughts.

Your answers will help me understand what might feel most supportive moving forward — class length, timing, style, and the kind of space people are hoping for when they come to yoga.

Whether you’ve joined classes before, have been curious from a distance, or simply feel drawn to slower, quieter offerings, your feedback is welcome.

Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to respond. It truly helps shape what comes next.

Maybe the question is not always
“How do I do more?”

Maybe sometimes it is:
What can wait?
What can be made simpler?
What no longer needs
the same amount of effort
from me?

There is a particular kind of wisdom
in recognizing when life is asking
not for more pushing,
but for a gentler way through.

Sometimes the body tells the truth
in small, ordinary ways.

A hand to the forehead.
A long pause before answering.
The need to sit down
before you even know why.

We spend so much time
trying to appear composed,
capable, fine.

But the body is often less interested
in looking together
than in being listened to.

There is wisdom
in the moment you stop performing
and simply notice
what is asking for your care.
