⭐️Check out this awesome art work that one of our after school students created with us this week! ⭐️
In this class the students were challenged to create an art work using only two colours to create a focal point. Highlighting the contrast between lightness and darkness and creating an image with a dramatic effect!

Look at those smiling faces! 🙂⭐️
Yesterday was so much fun, the bin top studio artists learned valuable art skills.
Artists incorporated highlights and shadows in their paintings, mixed custom colours and added tiny details with a liner brush. ♥️
The guided painting was a huge success and we cannot wait to do another one 🌟

The year is 2020. The Dawson Creek Art Gallery temporarily closes their doors in February to perform quick renovations, not knowing they won’t reopen until June, due to a global pandemic. There is worry. There is disappointment. There are many, many cancellations and even more heavy hearts. But above all else, there is a community that must take care of each other. We here at the DCAG try to support that community with what we do best - creative, beautiful, powerful art.
Welcome to our 2020 Summer School of the HeARTS! Every two weeks, beginning on June 23rd, we will release free, take-home art packages for ages 5-12 and teens, bringing the creative experience to you!
Each youth pack contains five fabulous activities from each of the art “food groups” so that you can maintain a balanced creative diet this summer.
Explore - An art activity that begins with an outdoor adventure! As artists, we must first listen to and observe the world around us before we speak with our art.
Connect - We would be nothing without our community! Connect with those around you by using postcards and a writing prompt to spread love.
Experiment - What’s art class without a little messy fun? Enjoy a science experiment from the comfort of your own home! Don’t worry parents, these can all be done outside!
Delight - An art game, to be enjoyed with others or by yourself! Laughter is the best medicine, especially for artist’s block.
Create - A step-by-step tutorial for a wonderful art project! Guaranteed fun from start to finish.
Each teen pack contains a multi-layered project with tips, tricks and techniques, experimenting with a new medium every time!
In addition to our free packs, we will also be sharing exclusive digital content, including video tutorials, movement classes, and community challenges! Let’s get moving, Peace Country!
Not from the Peace Region? Welcome! We are so glad you’re here! The package contents will be shared digitally each week, so please continue to create with us from the comfort of your own home. We are so grateful for this opportunity to connect with you!
Thank you for joining us on this journey, kindred artists. Unusual times call for creative measures, but thankfully, the arts teach us to think outside the box. Or inside the box, if that box happens to be a bright red grain elevator.
