If you play hockey, basketball, figure skate, curl, run or [insert the sport you play here], then your ankles take a beating. 🫣

Skating stride. Deep knee bend. Quick direction changes. Split stance delivery. Powerful push-offs. All of it depends on ankle mobility and strength.

If your ankle doesn’t move well into dorsiflexion, your body will compensate somewhere else. Usually the knee. Sometimes the hip. Occasionally the lower back.

Here we’re showing you three simple ways to build stronger, more reliable ankles.

This is not just about stretching. It is about control, balance, and strength in the positions your sport actually puts you in.

Your ankles need to move well.
They also need to handle the load.
And they need to stay steady when everything else is moving fast.

If you are constantly taping your ankles, rolling them, or noticing your knees getting sore during the season, it might be that you have limited mobility or reduced strength at the ankle.

A lot of recurring knee and lower-body issues start there.

If something keeps flaring up, let’s actually test what your ankles are doing instead of guessing.

Book a movement assessment with us at Deep Physio, and we’ll figure it out together.

You booked because your knee has been bothering you.

Totally fair.

But while we’re rebuilding strength, improving stability, and getting you back to what you love… why not look at the whole picture?

Spring is reset season after all. 🤷♀️

At Deep Physio, you can come in for sports rehab and also explore medical aesthetics, red light therapy, acupuncture, pelvic floor support, and soon even pilates.

Because feeling strong and feeling confident are not separate goals, you can have both!

Looking for the best exercises for curlers? 🥌

Curling demands serious hip stability, core control, and strength in that deep lunge position. If you want a smoother slide, better balance on the ice, and stronger sweeping power, your training needs to reflect that.

In this video, we focus on:

✨ Core stability to control your delivery
✨ Hip flexor strength for a steady slide
✨ Glute and hamstring strength for split stance power
✨ Anti-rotation core strength with the Pallof press for sweeping stability

If you are feeling these movements in your lower back instead of your glutes and core, your body is compensating.

Stronger stability means better performance and fewer post-game aches.

If you are serious about improving your curling performance this season, book a movement assessment with us at Deep Physio and let’s build a plan that supports your game.

Running a clinic is equal parts passion and pressure.

Some days you are tired.
Some days you question everything.
Some days you are answering emails from the stairwell.

〰️And then someone books.
〰️Someone trusts you with their recovery.
〰️Someone messages saying they finally feel strong again.
〰️An athlete hits a milestone.
〰️A mom feels confident postpartum.
〰️A client walks out smiling.

And you remember this was never just about business.

It is about people.
It is about community.
It is about showing up for the humans who trust us with their bodies.

To our clients and this community, thank you for letting us do what we love. 💚

Thinking about joining our Summer Solstice Run this year? 🏃‍♀️

Whether you're getting back into running or building toward your first event, a little preparation can go a long way in helping you stay injury-free and enjoy the process.

Targeted training, gradual mileage increases, and paying attention to early pain signals can make a big difference in how your body responds to training.

If something doesn’t feel quite right while you’re running, it’s often your body’s way of asking for a little support. Catching small issues early can help keep your training on track.

Whether you’re running, walking, or just getting back into movement, we’re cheering you on.

→ Registration for our annual Summer
Solstice Run is now LIVE on www.raceroster.com.

1 move = 3 wins 🧠🔥🍑

Don’t sleep on the Bird Dog. This move might look chill, but it’s secretly working overtime to boost:

✔️ Deep core stability
✔️ Hip + shoulder control
✔️ Glute activation

It’s like your body’s own GPS, keeping you stable, strong, and moving with purpose.

Try it slow, stay intentional, and feel how everything connects.

Save-worthy? Absolutely.

Overcomplicated? Not even a bit.

This is Jordana. She didn’t just start Deep…she is Deep. 💚

From athlete to physio to founder, her path started with a shoulder injury at 13 and led through 3 countries, elite sports teams, ICU floors, Pilates reformers, and women’s health work, all before coming home to Dawson Creek to build a clinic that digs deeper.

Not just into injuries, but into people.

After 20+ years, Jord’s known for her laser-sharp diagnosis, whole-human treatment approach, and her ability to build a care team that works together.

She’ll say it herself: her strength isn’t programming exercises.

It’s finding the real root of the issue and knowing exactly who and what you need to move forward.

Deep exists because she saw a gap in care and filled it with a team, a vision, and a commitment to treating people, not just injuries.

That’s the kind of care Jordana started with, and it’s the kind we carry forward every day.

We’re excited to welcome Callaghan to Deep Physio for his Level 2B placement with UBC's MPT program!
Callaghan joins us from his recent placement at a rural hospital and is looking forward to diving into private MSK practice, collaborating with our team, and continuing to build his clinical skills.

Over the next few weeks, you may see him working alongside our physio’s as he gains hands-on experience in assessment, treatment planning, and patient care.

Be sure to say hello and help us give him a warm Deep welcome 👋

Physio or Doctor? Here’s who to see first.

When something hurts or feels off, knowing your first stop can make all the difference.

This quick guide breaks down (thanks for literally breaking it down, Jordana) who handles what: from sprains and sciatica to concussions and heart palpitations.

At Deep, we’re all about getting you to the right care at the right time, whether that’s us, or your MD.

Smart care starts with smart direction, and we’re a phone call away from booking you in if you’re still unsure where your first stop should be.

Our Story

Founded January 2012 - Husband and Wife physiotherapist moved from Manchester England where they were both working in high level sport and private practice. ‘We had a vision of what we wanted to bring to the community - a holistic long term approach to health and wellness similar to the way we treated professional athletes.’ Jordana Moxon - Co-founder.

Deep Physio started with two physiotherapist located in room in a local Gym. Starting fresh with new ideas of treatment the waitlist started to grow as did the growth in knowledge and practice of physiotherapy. Researching Gray Cook, founder of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) lead to meeting and taking Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) with David Weinstock, which was a game changer to the way Deep Physio treated their patients. This propelled the ethos and phases that Deep Physio is build on; Phase 1 treating the injury, Phase 2 rehabilitating the injury, Phase 3 preventing and loading the injury. Every expert and course lead into next, NKT ( all three levels), FMS, SFMA, MobilityWod, Rocktape, Rockblades, STOTT Rehab Mat Pilates, Shift Concussion Management, Acupuncture/Dry needling, Diane Lee ISM .... the model started to, and continues to mold itself.

Now, fast forward 7 years, Deep Physio is amazing extremely knowledgeable team under one roof. Located in a 6000 sq foot modern facility it houses 6 treatment rooms with physiotherapists, acupuncturist, BC RMT, Chiropractor, and Kinesiologists. There is a large functional gym for functional rehabilitation, sports performance and personal/group training. and a 500 sq foot studio for pilates and yoga. All the therapists at Deep Physio, work together as a team, and have been trained in the same courses that help them speak the same language and get the optimum results for the client. ‘ We tap into all aspects of the clients needs. For example, if a client comes in with chronic pain and the physiotherapist can see that there is an emotional component to the pain, then a referral and conversation with the acupuncturist is recommended. Rather, if we are noticing that there is a rotation dysfunction that is occurring when something is running that is causing their knee pain, then the kinesiologist is screening rotation stability and creating a program to improve that movement. You can treat the symptoms and the pain, but if you do not diagnose the driver, you have not properly done your job because it will just come back. Deep Physio finds the driver, treats it and prevents it from returning!.’ Jordana Moxon - Co-founder/Physiotherapist.
