Job Posting – Community Action Team (CAT) Coordinator

Position Type: Part-time (Contract)
Hours: 12 hours per week
Wage: $32/hour
Term: Through December 2026 (grant-funded; possibility of extension depending on sustainability funding)
Reports To: Dawson Creek Community Action Team (CAT) Steering Committee & Nawican Friendship Centre Executive Director

About the Dawson Creek Community Action Team (CAT)
The Dawson Creek CAT is a multisector partnership working together to strengthen the community’s response to the toxic drug supply crisis. The CAT includes representatives from the Nawican Friendship Centre (lead agency), various service providers, community partners, and people with lived and living experience.
Our collective work aligns with eight key provincial CAT priority areas:
Naloxone
Overdose Prevention Services
Treatment and Recovery
Acute overdose risk case management
Cultural safety and humility
Social stabilization
Peer empowerment and employment
Addressing stigma, discrimination, and human rights
The CAT Coordinator plays a central role in supporting this work by ensuring smooth communication, project oversight, and meaningful engagement of partners—especially people with lived and living experience.
Position Summary
The CAT Coordinator will support the successful implementation of the 2024–2026 CAT project, including expanded mobile outreach, peer empowerment and employment initiatives, Indigenous-led cultural safety programming, social stabilization supports, and strengthened cross-sector collaboration.
The Coordinator will plan and facilitate CAT meetings, support project milestones, track progress, maintain communication with partners, and ensure that activities remain aligned with CAT priority areas and grant deliverables.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in social services, community development, public health, Indigenous studies, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and lived/work experience
Minimum 2–3 years experience in project coordination, community engagement, harm reduction, mental health/substance use, or similar work
Experience working with Indigenous communities and in culturally safe contexts is strongly preferred
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
Clear Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector)
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events or outreach support
