So often we as Reflexologists have the pleasure of working with people who have tried absolutely everything else before ‘finding’ Reflexology, and having their first session.

And often Reflexology is the key to change for them. ❤️

This is so true!!!

This is so true!!!

Your body doesn’t heal in urgency.
It heals when it feels safe.

Stillness isn’t doing nothing... it’s giving your nervous system the conditions it needs to repair, rebalance, and restore.

Recovery! Yes

Effective sports recovery is essential for maintaining performance, reducing injury risk, and supporting overall physical wellbeing. Recovery involves more than muscles alone. It also relies on healthy circulation, nervous system regulation, and the body’s ability to restore balance after physical exertion.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that may support sports recovery by encouraging deep relaxation and helping to regulate the nervous system. After intense or prolonged activity, the body can remain in a heightened stress state, which may contribute to muscle tension and delayed recovery. By promoting a relaxation response, reflexology may help the body shift into a state that supports repair and restoration.

Reflexology may also support circulation, helping to improve the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to working muscles while assisting with the removal of metabolic waste products. This can be particularly beneficial during recovery phases following training or competition.

As a holistic therapy, reflexology does not replace sports medicine or physiotherapy, but it may be used alongside conventional approaches to support flexibility, comfort, and overall recovery balance. Over time, regular sessions may help athletes and physically active individuals maintain resilience and body awareness.

How I use hand reflexology when I feel I'm stuffed up. Remember - if you are vaccinated, Covid symptoms may appear as cold symptoms. Please always check wit...

Reflexology gets misunderstood a lot.
It’s not fortune telling, foot wrestling, or random poking. It’s a structured, professional therapy delivered by trained practitioners.

Calm, considered, and a lot more intentional than people think 😉

Most of my posts are about what 'Reflexology is'. But here's one about what 'Reflexology is NOT'!

Reflexology is not a massage and not a medical treatment!

Nope, it's not! ❌

First and foremost, reflexologists do not diagnose illness, nor do they practice medicine. Only licensed physicians are allowed to do that according to law. Neither does a reflexologist treat specific diseases. (Even though most of my clients tell me very specifically what their problems are, and I may know medically what ailments they suffer from.)

Reflexologists never proceed as if reflexology is going to cure the problems. We may spend extra time working the reflex area on the feet (hands/ears/face) that correspond to the part that is portraying the symptoms, with positive results, but our work can not be classified as a medical treatment as such.

Yes, people do report experiencing relief from symptoms, reduction in pain, balancing of imbalances and improvement in many areas of their health and wellbeing.

Reflexology interrupts the patterns of stress in the body. Both external and internal stressors. It gives the body the opportunity to tap in to its innate healing abilities, and thus be able to get on with trying to heal itself!

So, reflexology does facilitate healing, and very often that may be alongside the medical advice and treatment you are receiving from your doctor, or other medical practitioners.

That’s awesome isn’t it! ❤️

Reflexology is a therapeutic technique applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears that correspond to body organs, aimed at inducing deep relaxation, reducing stress, and improving circulation. It supports the body's natural healing (homeostasis), eases pain, and improves sleep quality.

I had a conversation with a client about her bunions this week, and thought you may be interested too.

As a description and background to what a bunion is I’ve included a portion from the Reflexology textbook by Ruth Hull that I recommend to my students. 📘

As Ruth says Reflexology cannot ‘fix’ a bunion, or at least we don’t expect that it will, and definitely don’t say that it will to our clients.

However, sometimes the support that Reflexology offers, as mentioned by Ruth, has not only eased discomfort, but in isolated instances with a couple of my clients, has reversed the tension in the joint and deviation of the big toe to some significant degree.

This has been facilitated by on going daily techniques done by the client between their reflexology sessions with me.

I’d better tell you about the techniques in a different post, as this one is getting a bit long. 😆
