Slow your roll down, and become aware of your surroundings. Take note of the people you're sharing space with. Take a read on the energy flowing in the environment you're in. Let's try to be more present and patient while we are out and about. Today, while helping a visibly shaken individual, another customer entered and showed no interest in anyone or anything outside herself. My heart hurt for both of them; the one in pain looking for a shoulder and a kind word, and the other who missed an opportunity to join in my attempt to comfort. It could've been a beautiful moment to show the world sees her, and others do care. That her life matters and is important to all of us as a whole collective. This is a gentle reminder to be compassionate and aware, as many people in our communities are suffering from heartache and loneliness.

All it takes is one bad apple to upset the cart. There are so many crossed wires out there, and there's a real sense of communication breakdown. I've been observing that my words and thoughts haven't been received in the spirit in which they were delivered, and I'm baffled by how many people go about their days not understanding what is actually being communicated to them. Assumptions are being made prematurely without much thought. My challenge to everyone this upcoming week is to remain present in the conversations you choose to participate in, sit for a moment with what you hear before responding. I guarantee you will be amazed by what you learn. People are more than what you see on the surface. Tonight I'll pull cards for everyone. See you soon!

What’s in your bag? Is it slowing you down? 💚Let’s talk

We all have a bag. We all pack differently. Some of us are traveling light. Some of us are secret hoarders who’ve never parted with a memory in our lives. I think we are all called to figure out how to carry our bag to the best of our ability, how to unpack it, and how to face the mess. I think part of growing up is learning how to sit down the floor with all your things and figuring out what to take with you and what to leave behind.

We all carry things. Memories, wounds, stories, new and old versions of ourselves.
Some of it still belongs with us. Some of it doesn’t.

We even carry things that don’t belong to us and have no business being in “our bag.”

I agree with the author of these words, Hannah Brencher. Growing up is learning how to sit with it all and choosing what no longer serves you and deciding what you’re ready to put down.
