I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on 2025.

We navigated through the change of several significant staff members but gained some appreciated employees to complete our team who continue to provide heartwarming compassionate care to our residents. Way to go team, it’s going to be a great year!😀

In the Personal Care Home environment, we at times must face the challenges of change for our residents whether through relocation for personal reasons, level of care or the inevitable bereavement. This past year brought us several of these changes and for whatever reason the change occurs, it is always a very difficult time for the staff and the residents. Every single one of them leaves behind memories or a legacy.

A very important group to the Manor is the Friends of the Manor. I cannot say enough about this wonderful group of ladies (men are also welcome to the group😉😉!!) They are an energetic group that goes out of their way to entertain our residents by playing games, celebrating their birthday month, organizing trips for pontoon boat rides, ice cream outings, happy hours, supper outings including Xmas lite tours or simply one on one visits just to name a few! This past year we were deeply saddened by the loss of two of the group’s extremely active members/volunteers, Denise Sirois, (who also was a founder of the opening of the Manor) and Celine Beaulac who had been very dedicated to the group and the residents. She spent many hours simply visiting with residents! Both ladies are dearly missed, their legacy will live on at the Manor❤️😢

I would also at this time, like to thank all donors, big or small, for the cash donations directly to us, at funeral services, via donation organizations and those directed to the kitchen renovation project. Besides monetary donations, we receive garden produce, baked goods, meat packages, turkeys, snow removal, labour and the list goes on. A heartfelt thank you goes out to you all! Our volunteers also deserve a pat on the back, we couldn’t do it without you and appreciate all you do for us!

Merry Christmas from all the folks at the Manor who were served a delicious Christmas dinner today by Janine and Lisa. Thank you ladies for giving up your family time today to care for our residents. Thank you also goes out to the family members who came in to share the meal with their loved ones🦃🎄💕

It was another fun day for the residents today as the Board of Directors treated them to a Christmas Party which started off with entertainment by Layton Ferster. It was a pleasant surprise for his grandmother Rose Dumais who did not know he was to sing. Thank you Layton for providing us with some tunes and a few Xmas Carols🎶🎵🎼🎄.
Following the entertainment, Santa (Jessica Kaye) surprised the residents with her presence and handed out gifts provided by the Adopt a Resident program put together by the Manor. The board members also distributed gifts bought for the residents. As you can see by the photos, many smiles were evident!! A table full of snacks and goodies were served to all in attendance. Thank you supporters and families for sharing this afternoon with your loved ones. Merry Christmas to all🎄

Our residents were invited by the Friends of the Manor yesterday to take in a supper outing at Arnie’s Grill in Shellbrook. Christmas carols were sung on the bus and following supper, we idled around Shellbrook, Canwood and Debden for a Christmas light tour. Wow, thank you for those who go above and beyond to decorate for the holiday season🎄🎅🏻
Thank you Nola for volunteering to drive us around in the WPP bus, you did a great job! Thank you to our FOMs for organizing and of course a huge thank you to the residents who enjoyed the outing very much and for being so thankful for the outing!

The Manor has had the privilege of caring for our resident, Sten, for the last couple of years. Today, we bid farewell to our friend as he moves to long-term care. It has been an absolute joy having him at the home, and he will be greatly missed by staff and residents alike. Thank you, Sten, for showing that kindness and sweetness has no age limit ❤️ We wish him the best in Prince Albert, and encourage friends of Sten’s to visit him at Herb Bassett if they are ever in the area!

I am a little behind but I believe in better late than never😉!!!
I cannot thank this group enough as they never fall short of ideas to entertain our residents! Sunday’s happy hour was very much enjoyed by all and the meal put together filled them right up to the top😉!!
As we all know, our dear Celine Beaulac and Denise Sirois would have been involved in the planning and participation of this event so a toast was shared for both of them as we raised our glasses. We miss them both dearly💕.
Tickets continue to be sold for the 50/50 draw which is to take place on Xmas Eve. In the coming days following this draw, I will post the proceeds amount which the Friends of the Manor are donating to our Kitchen Reno fund.

At the craft sale last Friday, someone went home with someone else’s Skecher shoes. The missing ones are black and grey and the ones left behind are grey and pink😉

A Winter Wonderland Workshop brought children 0-5 years old to the Manor. The residents enjoyed and played along with the little people. The excitement of the holidays was in the air🎄

Today we pay our last respects to this beautiful soul whom is sadly missed at the Manor as a resident. We will celebrate her life as this is what she did, she was a lady who celebrated many occasions and special things dear to her heart. She planned and organized many parties, she hosted, oh she loved hosting, and cooking even while battling her illness!!! She was a fighter, she had a strong will to live and she leaves behind a family that was taught the same lifestyle so her legend will live on. Right to the end, she decorated. Christmas was very important to her and she passed away in a beautifully decorated room. She had a love for Nutcrackers, they were everywhere in her room and her daughter touched our hearts when at her mom’s passing, she gifted the entire staff with a Nutcracker💕. A memory I will cherish forever that will remind me, especially at Xmas time of Denise! On behalf of the Debden Heritage Manor staff and residents, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Denise. May you rest in peace, pain free. 🙏 Dianne
