We had a great afternoon hearing all about Ashleigh Myles journey biking solo from Alaska to Argentina! 118 days - and now she's a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD HOLDER for the first woman to bike the Pan American Highway solo! Thanks to everyone who came to our Second Annual Jingle Bell Brunch last Sunday! We loved having you and welcomed just shy of 400 people over 2 sittings - what a GREAT holiday event, we enjoyed connecting with everyone! Even the Big Guy in the Red Suit was able to stop by! Merry Christmas!

Joan Pynn (aged 102) is a resident of Haven House.
She was born in Vancouver but at the age of 12 moved to Birmingham, England.
Along with her sister, Joan joined the Auxiliary Territorial Services (ATS), the women's branch of the British Army. She trained for R.A.O.C. (Royal Army Ordinance Corps and was stationed at a supply depot in Derby where parts were requisitioned for military equipment. She was promoted to Sergeant and was responsible for a team of office workers. After four years of exemplary servicen she was discharged from the Army in 1946. She moved back to Canada a year later.

We had a "Head Shave for Charity" today at Augustine House. Some of our staff and residents shaved their head with proceeds going to Cancer Charities! It'll be a little colder in the morning - but it was worth it! 😁
