I feel we all can relate to this picture from time to time. Even if life is overflowing with too many good things, we can feel overwhelmed. I relate it to my favourite dinner, of which I always overeat...Turkey! I take a few pieces of turkey (I prefer the white meat), a large scoop of garlic mashed potatoes, my step-daughter's fantastic ginger carrots, broccoli, and of course, homemade white bread. My plate is full, and then...yes!!! The gravy...and over the edge of the plate it goes. There simply was not enough room for anything else. It is simply too much. Life throws us a lot of STUFF. We, at times, forget that we are not good multitaskers. We expect ourselves to keep all the balls in the air. Being kind to ourselves, and realizing we have the right to healthy boundaries with others, but most of all, with ourselves. Expecting too much from ourselves creates negative self talk when we don't succeed, even though we accomplished so many good things. Celebrate the small successes and enjoy what is within reach.
