Do you lump everything into “clogged pores”…
But your skin is a lot more intelligent than that.
Different pores need different strategies.
If you’ve been treating everything the same, that may be why you’re stuck
Let’s clean this up:
Whiteheads : Closed comedones are a true blockage, real congestion. Dead skin cells and oil get trapped under a sealed pore. Think: sluggish cellular turnover and buildup. This requires treatment to breakdown the congestion, normalize cellular turnover and manage sebum production. This is about clearing what’s stuck, not scrubbing your skin off.
Blackheads : open comedones are caused by high oil production, dead skin cell buildup and congestion. That dark colour is NOT debris, it is caused the oxidation of the trapped sebum when exposed to air. To effectively treat them we have to clear the pores and congestion while reducing oil build-up, managing the sebum production and providing anti-inflammatory support. We are not just clearing pores, we are correcting how your skin sheds, flows, and stays clear
Sebaceous filaments …. the most misunderstood.
They are NOT acne. NOT a blockage. NOT something to remove. They are a normal part of how your skin functions, these filaments move oil to the surface. Over-extracting them is a major problem, it creates irritation and enlarged-looking pores. Pores don’t open and close, however, their appearance changes based on oil flow, cellular turnover and inflammation. The biggest mistake here is treating normal skin like it’s broken. If you’re constantly trying to “clean out” your pores…you might be enhancing the problem that you’re trying to fix. We have to dissolve the sebum, and enhance the natural cellular turnover and drainage of your dermal layers to create balance within.
The goal isn’t to strip your skin.
It’s to train it to function properly.
If you’re not sure what you’re looking at in your skin, let’s figure it out together.
