THE FOUNDATION GIFT SHOP WILL OPEN SOON
The Devon General Hospital Foundation heard your voices loud and clear and the gift shop will be reopening with a brand-new selection of merchandise. Continue to follow us on Facebook and on our website at www.devonhospitalfoundation.org to get the opening details. In the meantime, the gift shop is getting a facelift and will be ready for their Christmas shoppers.
In early October, the Foundation held their fall strategic planning meeting. A number of important decisions were made at this meeting. The Board has approved an increase to the student bursary program. Beginning in 2025, up to five health care students will receive a $3000 bursary. This is an increase of two bursaries and doubling the amount of each bursary.
In addition, commencing in 2025, a Continuing Education Grant in the amount of $2500 may be awarded to two individuals who want to advance their knowledge, skill sets and increase their job opportunities. The individuals must be fully licensed in their current role as a registered nurse or other healthcare related job. The grant program is intended to recognize goal oriented, dedicated individuals who have demonstrated good citizenship in their community. The Foundation is finalizing all the criteria related to both the bursary and grant and those details will be available in January 2025 on the Foundation’s website.
The Foundation will be hosting an appreciation social on December 6th to thank, sponsors, donors and volunteers who continue to give the Foundation support towards their programs, activities and events. If you are interested in becoming one of our valued ‘friends of the foundation’, the Foundation recognizes donors and sponsors at different levels. You can recognize a loved one on an interior Memory Tree with a donation of $10 or your name can be added to a leaf or a balloon on one of the interior walls with a donation between $100 and $1000. The Legacy Wall which is located outside the east hospital entrance, recognizes a $10,000 donor with a gold Maple leaf, a $5000 donor with a silver Oak leaf and a $2500 donor with a bronze Aspen leaf.
The Foundation continues to recruit individuals who can give three to four hours a week to an active and vibrant volunteer program. There are numerous skill-sets where your expertise will shine. Please visit their website or give the Foundation a call at 780-342-7002 to obtain more information. Anyone from the Board will be happy to chat with you.
At the end of October, the successful bursary winners will be announced. Look for this good news in an upcoming Dispatch publication. Devonhospitalfoundatio.org
