Hi folks. Terri, Beckie, and I hope that the first month of the new year has treated everyone kindly, and that everyone is keeping healthy and happy.
There have been two key topics repeatedly coming up at the office over the past few weeks. One has been the cold and icy weather, and the difficulties it imposes on those of us who's main form of exercise is walking or bicycling. A drop in our activity levels goes hand in hand with weight gain, decreased mood and energy levels, and increased joint and muscle pain and stiffness.
If skiing, snowshoeing, or fat biking aren't in your wheelhouse, Moncton and Dieppe offer nice indoor walking tracks, and there are a myriad of group exercise programs for all age and fitness levels throughout the area. Don't wish to leave home? There are lots of fitness and yoga classes, both free or subscription-based, online (Yoga with Adrienne, which can be found on YouTube, is very popular with a number of our patients).
(The other hot topic has been the pros and cons of inversion therapy, especially through the use of inversion tables. I will touch upon this subject in my next post. Until then, stay happy and healthy.
