You don’t have to commit to the latest diet trend to be healthy and feel good in 2025! Here are 5 gentle nutrition resolutions that have nothing to do with weight loss.
1️⃣ Eat balanced meals with protein, healthy fats and fiber (most of the time) to keep you feeling full and satisfied. Think of the balanced plate method.
2️⃣ Aim to eat fatty fish at least 2x per week for those omega-3s, which support heart health, brain health and help reduce inflammation. Think SMASH-T (salmon, mackerel, arctic char, sardines, herring, trout).
3️⃣ Cook at home more often! Not only can this save money, it will allow you to make more food choices that are in line with your health goals. Whether you want to start with meal prep, batch cooking, or trying a new recipe every week - whatever gets you in then kitchen more often!
4️⃣ Eat more plants - fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. These foods contain beneficial fibre which can help prevent chronic disease and will keep you feeling full and regular 💩
5️⃣ Try a new ingredient or recipe every week or month! Get curious and creative. This is a great way to expand your palet and learn about new foods and cultures.
6️⃣ Be flexible with your nutrition and compassionate with yourself. No need for perfection. There’s something to be said about satisfaction. Good nutrition is about the long game, not a single meal!
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2025! What are your new year’s goals or resolutions (nutrition-related or otherwise)?
