Health Partners International of Canada

Health Partners International of Canada We work to increase the access to essential medicines and healthcare services to people living in vulnerable communities around the globe.

Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) is a humanitarian not-for-profit relief and development organization dedicated to improving access to medicine and enhancing health in the developing world. HPIC contributes to well-being by providing donated essential medicines, supplies and vaccines, building national health sector capacities, and responding to emergencies and health threats. We par

tner with a network of ministries of health, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and healthcare professionals, with pharmaceutical and healthcare product companies, and with Canadian government departments; and we count on the financial support of individual donors, foundations and corporations. Because of our unique model, HPIC multiplies every donated dollar to provide, without discrimination, at least $10 of free medical aid.

Did you know? Health Partners International Canada is the ONLY charity in Canada to receive a Drug Establishment License from Health Canada. This license is crucial because it confirms that HPIC manages donated medicines with the same level of care and diligence as the manufacturers themselves. This gives pharmaceutical companies in Canada the confidence to donate their surplus or unused medicines, knowing they will be handled responsibly and reach those in desperate need of medical aid.
Since 1990, HPIC has delivered over $750 million worth of life-saving medicine and medical supplies. This has provided health and hope to over 35 million people worldwide, which is truly inspiring. With the need for medical aid being greater than ever, you can help us reach even more people in need by making a tax-deductible donation at https://www.hpicanada.ca/donate/.

International Day of Hope on July 12 is a time to reflect on the importance of hope in overcoming adversity and building a better future. For Health Partners International Canada (HPIC), hope is intrinsically linked to health. HPIC believes that access to quality medicines and healthcare is more than just a medical intervention; it's a powerful tool for restoring personal dignity, empowering communities, and instilling hope for a better tomorrow. With every shipment of medicine, every training session for healthcare workers, and every partnership forged, HPIC is sowing the seeds of hope for the future. By supporting HPIC, you are directly contributing to this vital mission.

World Population Day, recognized every July 11, raises awareness of global population issues. As our numbers grow, so does the need for access to quality healthcare and in particular, maternal health. HPIC’s Women’s and Children’s Health programs support maternal and child health in many under-served areas of the world through education, community engagement and access to quality, essential medicines.
Our H.O.P.E. project is increasing healthcare access in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Take a look at how we are bringing life-saving services to mothers, pregnant women and children under five. Find out more at https://www.hpicanada.ca/womens-and-childrens-health/

It was so much fun to have the GSK Canada team in for a pack day at our distribution centre. GSK volunteers helped us assemble 30 humanitarian medical kit boxes that will be departing for Kenya in the coming days. Each box weighs 25 lbs and is carefully packed with specific medicines and supplies desperately needed in their destination country. In a remote region of the world where medicine is nonexistent, these medical supplies can help prevent chronic disease, disability, or even death.

For 35 years, GSK Canada has been by our side as an extraordinary partner committed to improving world health. Their incredible generosity and support is making a significant impact by improving the health of communities worldwide.

Our talented Izzy Doll knitters live all over the world! We were so thrilled to welcome Sandra who travelled all the way from England to deliver these beautiful treasures. Sandra leads a group of volunteer crafters who read about the initiative and wanted to help. These handmade dolls bring comfort and hope to children affected by war, natural disasters and other crises. We use them instead of polystyrene to securely pack the essential medicines we ship to vulnerable communities around the world and they eventually find their way into a child’s hands, and heart.

June 13th is International Albinism Day, a day to reflect on the plight of people with this genetic condition in many parts of the world. The risk of skin cancer is extremely high for persons with albinism, and the lack of access to sunscreen can lead to foreseeable, yet preventable deaths. For most persons with albinism, sunscreen not just a luxury, but a necessity.
With the backing of our incredible Canadian pharmaceutical partners, Health Partners International Canada works to provide persons with albinism in remote areas of Tanzania and Eswatini access to life-saving sunscreen and preventative health care. We are committed to providing access to medicine for the world’s most vulnerable individuals, including those with albinism.
To help us in our work, please consider making a charitable contribution at https://www.hpicanada.ca/donate.

What is a Humanitarian Medical Kit?
HMKs are pharmacies in a box! Health Partners International Canada provides medical professionals and humanitarian volunteers with 50 pounds of essential medicines and medical supplies to support their mission work in countries of great need.
HPIC recently provided two HMKs to the Canadian Relief and Development Agency and The Joy of the Lord Missions who partnered in a mission last month to the Asante region of Ghana. Working there with local medical staff, physicians, nurses, paramedics and civilian volunteers they ran two camps to treat a vulnerable segment of the population lacking access to primary medical care.
HPIC thanks them and all the humanitarians who, by carrying our HMKs, are providing access to medicine for those in our world who need it the most!

Our 35th Anniversary Dinner was a tremendous success! On May 29th the Health Partners International Canada community came together to reflect on 35 years of delivering health and hope to the world’s most vulnerable. There were a few laughs, some somber moments, and even a tear or two as we reflected on the 35-year journey of getting medicine to those in desperate need throughout the world, and of the tremendous accomplishments of our small, but mighty charity.
From our inspiring guest speaker, the Honourable Dr. , to our incredible pharmaceutical partners in attendance; Apotex, , GlaxoSmithKline, Hikma Canada, IVC Vita Health Products, and Pharmascience, to our community partners; , IMC,
, , Return to Work Solutions, , , and WEA UN Mission, to our treasured donors, volunteers and individual supporters, we all share a common vision for a healthier world; and of doing our own part to help make that a reality.
Throughout the evening one thing stood out – that as a caring community we can collectively achieve great things together. Our partnerships are strong, our future looks bright, and we look forward to helping those in this world who need it even more. Find out how you can join us in this important Mission at www.hpicanada.ca.
