Requiem Life Stories, Legacies, & Death Doula Services

Requiem Life Stories, Legacies, & Death Doula Services I offer a range of end of life services meant to help individuals find peace in their final days.

I have a deep love of helping people with life stories and memoirs. I offer support both to those at end of life and to their families. Whether you need end of life companionship, help with legacy projects, or assistance with vigils, I'm here to help and assure you that you are not alone on this difficult path. As a published writer, I'm particuarly passionate about legacy projects and love to help those at end of life tell their stories so that a treasure is left for family and for future generations. As part of a larger network, I'm happy to direct you to others in the field, such as death educators, grief counsellors, or registered nurses who specialize in in-home palliative care. For those who are caring for a dying loved one, I can offer reassurance, guidance, and lend an ear during a painful time, because even the strong support system can use support themselves. I adhere to the code of ethics of the End of Life Doula Association of Canada, have certification from a recognized EOL doula program at Douglas College in BC, and am committed to ongoing training in the field. I also have a BA in Anthropology from Western University and a post graduate certificate in Creative Writing from Humber School for Writers. I am also a member of the Death Doula Ontario Network and the Southwestern Ontario Death Doula Network. Outside the scope of practice of a death doula, I offer relaxing Reiki energy treatments and guided meditations to those at end of life.

I believe one of the most important things we can do for ourselves is a life review, whether musings over a cup of tea, a legacy project of written words for family members, or a full-fledged memoir. In going over our life, we see the common threads and themes, and begin to realize we have always been the hero of our own story.
The memoir I assisted master art forger Mark Landis with is on sale Tuesday. A fascinating story of one man’s need for human connection, and the lengths he will go to to find that. Link in comments for purchase on Amazon. Published by Sartoris Literary Group.

Thank you so much to the team at Metropolitan United Church and Daiya Counselling for putting on a wonderful series to support people facing grief and loss. I was honoured to be a part of it. I’m grateful to the people who took the time to come together in community to discuss the impacts of death and loss and find ways to alleviate suffering. Thank you to Lisa Highfield of Healing Hearts for championing the cause of grief education and support.

If you can get a chance to see In Seven Days at the Grand Theatre give yourself that gift. Moving portrayal of one Jewish family’s journey through death and Medical Assistance in Dying. Yes there are heavy themes and tears but incredibly funny too. Just like life.

The Green Burial Council is excited to invite you to our next public webinar- Caring for Our Dead: The Home Funeral - Green Burial Continuum!

Many people don’t know about the rights of families to care for their own dead – what’s often called a “home funeral." The continuum of family-directed funeral care options are often a good match for those wanting a green burial. Learn about families’ rights and responsibilities when death occurs; what’s meant by a “home funeral” and how families can benefit from more hands-on engagement with after-death care; the barriers posed by misinformation, conventional wisdom, and default practices among helping professionals; simple techniques for empowering families with non-commercial consumer information; and how green burial providers can facilitate arrangements with families serving as their own funeral director.

This event is free and will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, February 21st at 7pm ET/ 6pm CT/ 5pm MT/ 4pm PT!

If you watched the TV series Six Feet Under, we have an update! At natural burial grounds, we’re buried at about 3.5 feet depth, where the rich soil strata is. At this soil layer, the nutrients and energy from our body are most appreciated. 🌳 💚🌲
