Well… it’s official now.

Red Thread Refuge Society is officially incorporated in Ontario.

And I’m not going to lie, I’m damn proud.

This is more than a document.
More than a status update.
More than paperwork.

This is proof that something real is being built..
Something rooted in protection, healing, safety, and a better future for women and children leaving violence.

There is a long road ahead, but this mattered.
This step mattered.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, believed in this vision, shared my posts, donated, encouraged me, and reminded me not to quit.

Some women are not staying because they do not see the problem.
Some are staying because they are trying to survive it.
If you think someone in your life may be going through domestic violence, the words you choose matter.
Not every woman is ready to talk.
Not every woman is ready to leave.
But a safe question can still open a door.

Ask gently.
Listen fully.
Believe her.
Stop asking why she stays.
Start asking if she is safe.

Survivors have spent far too long being treated like the ones on trial.
Asked why they stayed.
Why they went back.
Why they didn’t call sooner.
Why they didn’t leave differently.
Why they didn’t fight harder.

Enough.

The real question has always been:
Why are survivors the ones being interrogated, while abusers keep getting excuses, protection, and silence?
The interrogation of survivors ends now.
No more blame.
No more minimizing.
No more forcing broken women to prove they were hurt badly enough to deserve safety.

I will keep saying it: women and children do not need more judgment!
They need protection.
They need support.
They need safe places to go when leaving becomes the most dangerous moment of all.

Today I’m asking for something simple.
Not awareness. Not shares.
We need ACTION.
Every single day in Canada, 699 women and 236 children are turned away from shelters.
I’m building something to change that, but I know I can't do it alone and I need people who will stand behind it.
I appreciate every single message of encouragement but that alone, will not build safe housing.

If 10 people donate $5 today…
that tells me this is real, and that people are not only seeing the problem but willing to help..

1,800 women and children were turned away.....
Not because they didn’t need help.
Not because they didn’t ask.
But because there was nowhere left to put them.
Let that sit with you.
That’s 1,800 moments where someone made the hardest decision of their life…
to leave…
to ask for safety…
and got told “we’re full.”
So where do they go?
Back to the same house.
The same fear.
The same danger.
This is exactly why I’m building something different.
Not just emergency shelter.
Second-stage housing.
Real time to breathe.
To rebuild.
To not be rushed back into survival mode.

Because telling women to “just leave” means nothing if we don’t build somewhere for them to land.
If this hits you in the chest, good. It should.

Because 1,800 is not just a number.

Canadaaaa!! Reality check!
We don’t just have a domestic-violence crisis.
We have an infrastructure crisis.
If shelters are full, families get sent back to danger. And women are dying!

This is exactly why I’m working to build secure Second-Stage Housing in Northern Ontario so women, children, and pets actually have somewhere safe to go.
Because having no choice but to run back to danger, that is not freedom, Canada. In some cases it's a death sentence.
And, I know we can do better!
