Did you know…
Every once in a while I have to remind y’all that endometriosis is not a menstrual disorder, and it doesn’t come from the uterus.
Gynecologists & other medical professionals are still perpetuating this archaic idea that has been disproven. Why are they so married to this old message? 🤦♀️
Truth: the definition of endo states that endometriosis occurs OUTSIDE the uterus. (inside the uterus is adenomyosis). Endo lesions deposit outside the uterus and attach to your pelvic and abdominal organs, sometimes the thoracic cavity, the diaphragm, liver, though rare, it has been found in fetuses, it’s been found in noses, and other strange areas.
Mind blowing 🤯 right?
‼️That’s because Endometriosis is a SYSTEMIC disease.
Systemic means it affects all body systems, the digestive, immune, and nervous systems, mental health, reproductive health, and fertility. It is often seen with autoimmune diseases and other conditions.
It’s a very complicated disease that cannot be fixed with birth control pills. Birth control pills can only mask things.
Don’t trust what you read on Dr Google. So much of what is published in journals and online is just plain wrong, they incorrectly define endometriosis as misplaced uterine tissue or say that it is endometrium that grows outside the uterus. The disease is possible in those without a uterus and without periods.
Why it’s important: This is outdated and debunked information that hinders research efforts, delays proper treatment, and perpetuates rampant medical gaslighting.
